From what I understand when you apply for student visa 1st thing they look at is your bank statement, and if you're able to pay for you schooling in the US.
BTW, I went to UGA here in Georgia. I had pell grant and hope scholarship, and 3 years after graduation I'm still paying off my student loans. The foreign students who come to study in the US do not qualify for student loans, pell grants or scholarship program, nor are they allowed to work except on campus for minimum wage which is $5.85. Now tell me, how can you afford to send your kids to an Ivy League School in the US on 1400 dollar salary?
not 'your' own bank statement but a bank statement and an affidavit of support, the affidavit of support could be from your uncle. Many people did this, using bank statements and affidavits of well off family members, but came here and worked and paid for their education.
