unless u are in japan or u are planning to buy the very latest nokia 7610 ( it's not even released yet and offers 1 MP quality ) buying a cell phone with a camera is a bad idea, get a seperate digicam with atleast 3 MP resolution.
these cell phone cameras offer very poor quality. i don't think they are worth it. instead get a cell with other cool features like a fm radio, AIM support etc, and get a seperate digicam
useless :D
for normal pic you will need atleast 3.3 mega pixels for good quality
but if the offer is good, I d say go for it.
but If u have to pay alot leave it aside,
Well, it all depends on what you wanna do with the camera. I have both, a 2 megapixel Canon and a phone with a camera (SE T610). For most of the regular pics I use the Canon. But there are times I don't have the Canon, but my cell is always on my side. The picture quality, ofcourse, is not that good but for candid shots, specially if the light is good the phone camera works well.
Praetestatus, 2 megapixel is plenty for website pics and/or 4x6 prints, sometimes even full page ones don't look too bad.
how many of your friends have a camera phone? or a phone where they can receive a photo message?
hmmm...i don't think camera phones can ever be used as replacement for a full fledged camera, the only use i think is when you are out and you see something that you want your friends to see just click and send a phote message...they can see it on their phones, delete and thats it :D so if many of your friends don't have a camera phone then no point

Well, almost all my friends have a camera phone with me beeing the exception here. :) I use my Canon Powershot for taking digital pics.
However I don´t think that they are useful at the current development level. But as soon as they advance to decent resolutions (at least 2.1 MP), I´d consider going for it. I guess that should happen within the next 1 or 2 years.
As I said before it all depends on what you want to do. 3 megapixel cameras can't compete with film camera's either. You can blow up a slide (even a negative) to a full page or even bigger sizes without any noticeable graininess.
You don't have a phone with a camera to take great pictures, you do it so you can get an opinion on a daring outfit five minutes before you buy it, catch your brother doing something really stupid so you have something to blackmail him with later, take quick pictures of the interior at a place you like for ideas on how to redecorate your room, the list goes on.
It's not so bad.
