should we join in the celebrations for christmas?
After all Jesus was a phophet and a influencial figure in history (if you are religious).
So celebrating his birth is a good thing right?
Who is up for a party? ![]()

Re: celebrating christmas
We celebrate christmas in a pretty big way...the spirit of giving, santa claus, gifts, family feasting and fun.
And I see nothing wrong, even Islaamically speaking, in joining in the fun. Not a very popular attitude among the Muslim community but tis something I grew up with and want my children to have...its a magical holiday for us all.
If you join in the the spirit of this holiday, that doesnt mean you accept Jesus as the Son of God yeah?
So Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!!!
Re: celebrating christmas
we also celebrate christmas ....its the only time us ladies at the house has a day off from the kitchen haha...and the boys makes the big dinner...
but phir kitchen humey hi saaf karna parta hai
so from here MERRY CHRISTMAS
Re: celebrating christmas
There is nothing wrong in giving/accepting gifts but one should not connect this to this shaytaan's holiday. And no it's not Isa' (pbuh) birthday, it's more to do with fornication, drugs, alcohol and money.
Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) said: **He who resembles a nation is from amongst them
**I know there is the argument, oh were living the west... but that doesnt mean we try to adopt to everything the kafir do. And we should do our best to avoid this holiday especially because its nothing but shaytaans joy.

One of the best things about dating/marrying a whitey is the xmas family experience.
Fornication, drugs, alochol, money? Wth, have you been celebrating xmas with the Manson family??? Lemme feel the warm xmas spirit baby!
Re: celebrating christmas
*rotfl!!
Cricket man! I'm surprised at you! First, kafir is not a nice word and surely there are kafirs in the west but I've not met many in my lifetime.
Christmas, aside from the religious aspect (which we as a family do not celebrate), the Christmas holiday is a time of giving, sharing good friends and family...
no one I've ever met in my entire lifetime in the west used the holiday for fornication, drugs alcohol or money. lol!! Where HAVE you been hanging out man!!
Re: celebrating christmas
oh and mamaof3, a very happy xmas to you! wats on the menu this year?
Re: celebrating christmas
xmas is nothing but waste of time and money. as for those who want to celebrate xmas, why even bother to ask others whether they celebrate or no. can't you just keep on celebrating your damn xmas and let others do what they want to do? is it really that hard for you ppl who preach [live n let live] but can't really live up to their own damn principles.
Re: celebrating christmas
^ So apart from cricketplaya (who by the way is urging not to celebrate xmas), who the hell is forcing you to celebrate, or not celebrate xmas?
oh and mamaof3, a very happy xmas to you! wats on the menu this year?
Why Thank you Spock! And may you enjoy the spirit of the holiday and have a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!!!
Menu!! OMG!! We go off to my sisters house for a seafood and steak fest, broccoli w/cheese sauce, baked potatoes etc etc. YUM! Steak is my fave!!

...Bah HUMBUG!! lol! Saieen, why not fall into the spirit of things, the joy of the season. It costs nothing and perhaps the same joyful spirit will be returned to you on your holidays.
But if you find it all annoying (I assume you live somewhere in the west), you can stay indoors, close the shutters and shades and rent a movie and have take-out delivered or something. No one is forcing you to celebrate the holiday but unless you hole yourself up, you cannot avoid it completely...theres just too much joy-of-the-season going on.
Anyway, I wish you the spirit of christmas and a healthy, happy prosperous New Year too!

I think festivals bring people together from all walks of life - we should try not to look into each other's differences for a while.
That's what celebrations are all about!
Re: celebrating christmas
...and HERE is the spirit of christmas
Eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of New York's Sun, and the quick response was printed as an unsigned editorial Sept. 21, 1897. The work of veteran newsman Francis Pharcellus Church has since become history's most reprinted newspaper editorial. We present it today on Christmas Eve.
"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?
"VIRGINIA O'HANLON.
"115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."
*
Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.
Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.
You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.
No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Re: celebrating christmas
Okay, I dont care what anyone says...I adore the Christmas holidays!!!!!!!!!! All of Chicago turns into a lighted Christmas tree...there are red, yellow, orange, green lights everywhere and people turn so nice. There are charity boxes everywhere and those people with red uniforms and bells start hanging outside Nordstrom's - Salvation Army I believe. I mean, its like the whole city is celebrating Christmas emotionally and spiritually. There are presents being exchanged, the stores are all decked out, everything sparkles, fancy dinners, family fun, etc etc etc.
I dont see anything wrong with celebrating Christmas as a family holiday and just having a good time. Why not?
Re: celebrating christmas
Christmas season used to be like what PSquared made it sound - like 10 years ago. I used to lovee it. Now, it's just so depressing, everyone's stressing and getting each other useless things that NO ONE uses.
