lets answer one basic question
should a masjid, of all buildings, be built on land that does not belong to the masjid?

First of all, why this issue has been brought up so "late", when those masjids have been well established. Where were the authorities when the construction of those masjids were started ?? One of my close relative has been the Director General in CDA Islamabad and according to him the Government knew but never took action against them at the first place when such masjids started
Secondly, why every step taken by the present government seems to be having something with ISlam one way or the other and not with the open corruption of the influencial political leaders.
For example.
Sharab being allowed and encouraged.
Orders given in the Forces against keeping a beard.
The courses of Islamic studies been changed in the primary and secondry schools.
What about:
The promise given to the nation years ago about the punishment of the corrupt leaders and the money of government lying in the swiss banks would be returned to the Government.
What about the lands being illegally distributed among the Army Generals. (Dont tell me that is not happening, my dad is a retd general himself and few other people in my family)
Why isn't the government focusing on the other immoral activities taking place like "Heera mandi" etc which are openly encouraging people to the bad actions.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for a Qadyani to make it up the ranks...sorry, i don't buy it.
Even the rumor of being one would have meant an abrupt end to his career. To suggest your buddy would be able to find out, and not the Pak army...just too hard to swallow.

He didnt say Musharraf was, but some of his relatives etc are. Not sure what Musharraf is.

your point about army generals swindling land is accurate though. hope your dad was on the 'right' side of things. Unfortunately Pakistan is being pillaged by not just the longbeards but also the army.

^ 1. It is encouraged. I remember my dad used to mention that in alot of meetings one of the chief and some generals used to say that either you would drink with us or not sit in the meeting. You might not know but the "Drunk budies" are given special importance when the promotion is considered. There are very few who are lucky and still get promotion on the basis of their performance and ofcourse blessings of Allah.
I think alot of people do look smart if they keep their beard clean and in a proper manner and I am very sure that doesn't effect the efficiency of a professional person as I have practically seen alot of examples. And it doesn't effect their discipline, smartness and efficiency. If this was the case Captin Col. Sher Khan wouldn't have achieved other achievements in his life and also a Nishan-e-haider after shahadat. He is not the only example, there are alot of others in other fields as well like Mohammad Yousaf...etc.
By changing they have removed alot of Quranic verses instead of explaining them to the children in a proper manner. I won't comment on this one as I have got this information from a source and havent checked myself the exact verses being taken out.

encroachment of public and private land is very common in pakistan.if this was private property being illegally occupied then the government would'nt bother to act against these people.there are afghani refugees here living illegally on private properties and govt has failed to act against them.I think this is a step in the right direction and hopefully govt can do the same on the private lands which are being illegally occupied.

Submission - the reason some people offer drinks to others is to grow a spirit of comradeship - it is a well established fact that a few drinks break the ice and people become more open and friendlier to work with. We're not talking excessive drunkenness here.
On beards - I'm afraid you're flat out wrong. Soldiers in beards are simply unkempt and undisciplined. Ofcourse there will be exceptions. It is a mere outward symbol and if that is what one has to do to prove their faith, it is more of a cheap trick.
As many have pointed out, build the masjid in legally acquired land without stealing others' lands or public spaces and without being a nuisance to everyone around.

Hmm...I think I should stop here as our perspectives are quite different from each other. Maybe It is just that I would like to follow the ways of my "Ideal personality" and your would like to follow the ways of your "Ideal personality"

For how long? few years, as long as we keep bowing down to Americans, we are fine, the day we refuse, we will be put in the category of Afghanistan and Iraq. As one of the American General said, these Pakistanis will even sell their mothers for money.

**garmihawathandapaani **you are no less extremist than the long bearded people you have referred. Sharab (Alcohol) is not the only drink to break the ice and tea can be used instead. Neither is beard disallowed in army but showing some unusual tendencies like lamenting other sects and trying to be mullah type is definitely frowned upon army.
In any case we are supposedly an Islamic country and we should not be openly selling Alcohol at all. If people fetch it through illegal means, let them fetch. We dam care about their other problems like getting quality medicines but we are very sympathetic to them for finding quality alcohol. I am amazed.
