peer jee, not to ignite the old debate, but if ataturk was alive today, i bet mushy would be his role model. just think about it: playing the mullah/mma card to keep the western money supply afloat is nothing short of genius. in this guy are many a Caesar.

I am so disgusted by all of you at this point. These mullah's stole this land and built on top of it and when the CDA came to enforce the law they threatened with terrorist attacks and held a building hostage. You are all such typical Pakistanis who have no shame when it comes to the rules.

Anyway, if Musharraf was so keen on doing his job and obeying laws, he’d be unemployed and Nawaz Sharif would be in power. Had we not been blessed with Osama, Musharraf wouldnt quite be your hero - would he? Some of you tend to forget he has pissed on the constitution himself.

Dont credit him with doing things any leader could of done. He was afforded a golden opportunity and he’s ruining it because of his soft policies. Any other democratic leader would of done the same if not much better.

I dont doubt his rule for a minute. I doubt his legitimacy, and forever long he sits in power as an unelected/undemocratic/despotic leader I will have not one word of praise. We worked so hard to get a glimpse of democrac but people like you, with your blind support of Musharraf have allowed it all to disappear. Today, on this day in March of 2007 - he’s a liability.

Unlike you I do not base my thoughts on "what ifs" and assumptions. Please provide EXAMPLES for your claims that he broke the constitution. And I mean literally get me passages from the constitution of Pakistan.[FONT=Times New Roman]

Once again you are assuming that a democratic leader could have done better, even though in our history none was capable of doing so at the end of the day. I challenge that entire claim based on the rule of Nawaz Sharif that ruined Pakistan![FONT=Times New Roman]

He was elected and he is democratic and he is not despotic. The only reason you are pissed is because he is changing the country and implementing his agenda rather you like it or not. Democracy is a liability for Pakistan at this point until it is fixed which it will be in these coming elections.

NS and Shabaz did many great things for Punjab and Lahore in particular.

In a free and fair election they woudl trounce Musharraf.

Getting rid of these false mosque's is the right thing to do, but don;t try to fool us on other points, it's not working

This seems more like a political discourse than a religious debate. If all you guys wanna chat about are the relative merits of Musharraf, Nawaz and Benazir, then I will be happy to transfer this thread to Politics and you guys can knock yourselves out over there.

If you want an example look at the dictator's breach of the constitution, start from the very beginning, his 'constitutional' overthrow of govt, then his suspension of the constitution in January 200, and all the changes to the he forced through, such as the LFO, in particular Article 270A.

When several Supreme Court judges refused to take a new oath under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO), they were forced to resign.

Thanks to Musharraf, the 'constitution' is nothing but a piece of paper by and for Musharraf.

This is a stupid debate..
First of all, I wish they had the same respect for the places of worship of minorities.
Secondly, Mosques are just buildings... And these building were obviously built illegaly. So Musharaf, the CDA or anyone else who is involved has every right to knock this thing down. Pakistan has enough Mosques to accomodate everyone, one less mosque, particularly one thats built illegaly, wont hurt anyone. No one is above the law.
