So three Pakistani’s were plotting to assasinate the US ambassador to Afghanistan.
Afghan intelligence officials have thwarted a plot to assassinate US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and arrested three Pakistanis, armed with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles, a spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said.
and the CIA director is pretty sure he knows where OBL is. (hint Muslim country beginning with P)
How long before we send toops into Frontieristan in hot pursuit of Taliban and Jihadi fighters? Sounds like that is the next step.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
If and when there is another attack in the US, Americans will invade Jihadistan. But I don't see them doing it before that, there's just not enough support. But it will be 'to hell with the support' if there is another attack.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
The CIA director just would not say, "we have an excellent idea where he is", on a whim. Either he is trying to get him to move, or to get Pakistan to act, or because he is warming up some tomahawk missles... This was not a frivolous message.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
Seminole, nice sentiments regarding Pakistan. You really think that Pakistan is going to be an easy target like Iraq. If you do, you really are living in a fantasy world.
OG, IMHO, We do not have enough military personnel at this moment to engage in another conflict.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
It has nothing to do with my sentiments regarding Pakistan, only in relation to the terrorist element running around the mountains. And I'm not saying it will be a war against Pakistan, only the elements they can't or won't control. And please no lectures on 'sentiments towards Pakistan'. There is enough hatred towards the US on this board that it should be embarassing for you to even bring it up.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
If they know basically where OBL is, they might be able to do it with a thousand special forces troops and 24/7 orbiting b-52s. Add 1000 afghan troops for support, and you could put on a good hunt.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
so what will it be this time around? more passenger planes smashing into buildings or are you guys thinking of something more spectacular. i bet the cia and hollywood directors arent going to let us down.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
yeah.. they knew where OBL was around September of 2001.. they knew where he was later on around Tora Bora.. and then they just forgot and just knew where the WMD’s were and then they knew all the ‘insurgents’ are in Fallujah, so i guess we should all believe them where OBL is now.
as for those salivating about attacking Pakistan.. all i can say is.. well why don’t u try it out?
well didn’t go exactly the same way last time they knew where OBL was.. maybe they should take the American soldiers out of the equation to have any chances of success.. guys have this bad karma around them that wherever they go, they get their panties handed over to them by rag tag ‘insurgents’
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
The fact that you have three Pakistanis wander into Afghanistan and try to kill the US Ambassador is still rather interesting. With neighbors like that who needs enemies? But, it's odd that they could not recruit Afghans to do the same job. Certainly the Pakistanis had to have been somewhat out of place, and quickly noticed. If they are all from a border town, or they routed through a border town, why would the US not be justified in going to find the rest of those who hatched this plot? Certainly the Pakstiani authorities will not do this with less than 10,000 frontier troops.
My guess is Wana, where they had some intense fighting last year. You trace back this plot and you will find a rather large support structure to harbor fighters. They most certainly are not offering tea and cookies to the three they captured. There will be evidence and there will be talk. More than likely these three did not figure to be captured alive.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
US can hardly control Iraq - where they atleast dont have to face the wrath of the majority population (Shias). So forget abt invading Pakistan - if it was that easy they would have done it right after 9/11.
And i dont think that US would get its lapdog - India - to do the dirty work either. India know that any of its misadventure would end up in it getting a big nuke up its masaladosa butt.
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
the nook option is just a deterrant.. i doubt neighbors would want to use such a pollutant and then drink contaminated water for hundreds of years.. it's just a "we-know-u-pwn-us-conventionally-but-we-leet-cuz-we-have-nooks-too" option..
Re: Casus Belli? (casus belli: A cause justifying war; a ground of war.)
The Us will never have orgasm about invading pak.
Us can't even control irak which is a flat desert country of only 25 million people, and in which 80% of the people are neutral. Plus irak was a militarily very weak country because sanctions.
If the Us did invade Pak, it would be facing a country of 150 million people ( 95% of whom will oppose the Us). Pak is 3 times the size of irak and is pak is much more mountainous. Plus the tribal nuts will create a hell for the invaders.
The indians will remain neutral and eat their sh!tty curry, cause of the nooks.
Plus the Us does not even have enough troops for irak. The American students running away from army. The Us might have to bring back a draft.
