What are the different castes in Pakistan and what do they signify? I only know about a few but have no idea what they represent. Let’s list the ones that are most prevalent and what customs are associated with each.

Note: This isn’t a thread about whether the caste system should exist or not. I’d just like to learn how our people are divided into categories.

For example, I’ve heard Rajpoot is considered an elite caste, probably because most of them have their own businesses. Is that true?

In KPK and balochostan you have tribes , in punjab and sindh you have castes.

Pashtuns are egalitarian , no stratification among tribes as all are related to each other and have shajra that traces back to common ancestors.

Punjabis, kashmiris and Sindhis on the other hand are categorized into castes like indians
