Is there any limit on taking cash to Pakistan? For example, coming to US if you have more than $10,000 in cash, you have to declare it. Is there such a rule when going to Pakistan?
Re: Cash Limit
declare 50 to the customs officer ..slip it directly into his pocket and you don't have to declare the rest AJ
Re: Cash Limit
I think limit is the same taht is $10,000, because I know someone who bought a house in Pakistan and had to take money from here.. they made quite a few family trips ![]()

Just admit it, you guys don’t know jack.
Re: Cash Limit
Limit is actually $6000.00 USD. but the best way to move money over to pak. is using the old fashion hundi style.
make sure you know the people and transfer the money tell them you will receive the money yourself when you reach Pakistan.
Re: Cash Limit
According to the information about Pakistan on the website of the Austrian foreign ministry you are only allowed to bring in a maximum of 100 Pakistani Rupees in local currency, but an unlimited amount in foreign currency. When leaving Pakistan you are not allowed to have more than 100 Pakistani Rupees on you in local currency and the equivalent of USD 5000 in foreign currency.
Re: Cash Limit
Umer you have a link for me?
Danial maiN, where did you get that $6,000 number?
Re: Cash Limit
Do not use Hundi, if you want to live out of trouble. My advise. Use National Bank of Pakistan or Western Union etc.
Re: Cash Limit
serious? i needed more than that just to enter the gate, and i still came back with like...a lot more than 100 Rs. cash on me.
Re: Cash Limit
I don't think Pakistani govt puts any limit on 'in-coming' foreign exchange, however the country you are leaving will have that limit/rule-to-declare.
Re: Cash Limit
I think there was a restriction of $100 10-15 yrs ago if u didn't have permission from State Bank, but that restriction was later removed, I believe in the mid 90's.
Re: Cash Limit
what type of trouble are you referring too?
i've used hundi for the past 10-12 years without a problem in any transactions.
Re: Cash Limit
I transferred through Bank when I wanted to buy the house. My brother had a USD account so no probs.
If you want to play safe get the draft made on your name and take it to any bank in Pakistan and open USD account and deposit draft. I don't think there will be any problem with that.
Taking out money is a problem there you can not take more then 3500 PAk RS and also there is limit (I don't remember the exact amount) on USD or any other cash.
Re: Cash Limit
You are talking about taking cash FROM Pakistan, while ahmadjee is talking about taking cash TO Pakistan.
