Is there any limit on taking cash to Pakistan? For example, coming to US if you have more than $10,000 in cash, you have to declare it. Is there such a rule when going to Pakistan?

According to the information about Pakistan on the website of the Austrian foreign ministry you are only allowed to bring in a maximum of 100 Pakistani Rupees in local currency, but an unlimited amount in foreign currency. When leaving Pakistan you are not allowed to have more than 100 Pakistani Rupees on you in local currency and the equivalent of USD 5000 in foreign currency.

When entering Pakistan, you can take unlimited amount of

1) US $
2) British Pounds
3) Euros
4) Japanes Yen

But you must have prove that its not money laundring. Best option will be taking a bank draft & around 2000 USD in cash. Open a FCA in Pakistan & deposit that draft in the account & u will have ur money in the account pretty soon.

When leaving Pakistan, u can leave with unlimited amount of Foreign currency too but not Cash. Cash limits are

Rs. 3000
USD 5000
GBP 3000
Euro 5000
Yen (I dont know, couldn't find).

Its illegal to cross those limites and if found u will only be allowed the specified amount, rest u can leave with ur family (if they are outside the airport).

Government is thinking of putting limit to USD 100,000 (or equavelant of any currency except PKR) by draft/cheque too but its hasn't been implemented yet.

The 100K limit is to take FC out of PK.
