as muslims we respect all biblical/quranic religious figures. It would not take a rocket scientist to start mocking events, actions or people in either jewish or christian history. You will not see muslims mocking them, otherwise things from virgin birth to self circumcision could have been easy easy targets. But its simply wrong. Even some of my misguided fellow muslims who go and insult other religious figures such as in hinduism, are wrong to do so and should be ashamed.

listen, all I'm trying to say is that there is a big conflict here. Its between not only cultures but religions too. If your purpose is to resolve things peacefully then there needs to be a big effort (on BOTH sides) to understand not only the cultural differences but the religious ones too. Otherwise, the situation will just degrade and degenerate into all-out war, hatred, mistrust etc etc.

No, what you actually said (1st post) and what you're trying to say (now) are two different things. I actually don't believe that its about 'western values' versus religious ones as it is being made out. I think it was more to with respecting others belief and excercising decent taste.

So if muslims r showing their anger in wrong way r right they dont care now ....this is against to democratic western culture mamaof3 .freedom of opinion shouldnt carry insult to religion .Dk have always been a peacefull country so its really sad to see all that :(

Freedom of speech can only go so far, you need to draw a line somewhere.

Why is it bad to speak impolitely to someone or curse their parents, spouse or children yet when this sort of thing happens westerners are saying “ahh well, siht happens, get use to it!” even though the Prophet :saw: for us is before all them relations.

I know this is hard for non-Muslims to comprehend but the Prophet :saw: is dearer to us believers than our own selves, children, parents, spouses. These are not empty words I’m reiterating from someplace I read but we really really do feel a very strong emotional attachment to our Prophet :saw: without feeling the need to resort to polytheism.

To the Christians their religion doesn’t mean much and they’ll happily sit back and let Jesus :as: and Mary :as: be ridiculed but that hurts us and so does this, don’t assume that our religion is just as insignificant to us, because it’s not.

The thing is…well in countries that protect their freedom of speech, there are many rude “cartoons” such as this. They are rude to religions, to political leaders, etc etc etc. NO ONE is exempt from the brutality of the cartoonists. It really isnt meant I think, to be quite as insulting as its been taken to be. I truly can see both sides…You have to understand the western type of culture where almost anything goes and you’ll be able to be more understanding of this - NOT that you have to agree with it. The Muslims who are so very outraged really cant see beyond THEIR culture and outlook. Yes, I do see how extremely insulting to Muslims this whole thing is but I can also see that it truly wasnt meant as the extreme insult that it was taken to be…

So, the onus is on muslims to understand the western culture, when they were the ones who were made the object of insult? So the insultee has to be sensitive of the insulter’s culture, and not the other way around?

well muslims who accept to live amongst non muslim have to endure that already, dope…
the muslims who are not hypocrites do not live in the west and them complain that their neighbor is not muslim…when non muslim go to muslim countries they are required to adopt muslim law to certain extend…muslim living in the west have to that effort, if they are not happy they can go back home…
as i am not happy, inshallah i’ll move to pakistan in the future…but why would i obliged others to compell to my wishes??
