Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

^ because their religion isn't as dear to them as ours.

THey uses "Jesus christ this, and Jesus Christ that" in all their hollywood movies. His name, image has been made a mockery in their religion.

This is why we don't depict the Prophet pbuh or the Sahabahs or any Ambian for that matter.

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

and here ^^lies the key to the whole scenarior.Bravo.

U have hit the nail right on the head.semitic races hold religion as very dear ,rest of the world is moving away from religion.

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

the people who are moving away from thier religion do not respect thier religion thats why they are moving away from it, we however have respect for our religion and we cannot sit back and relax while others are disrespecting our religion...

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

Yes, the nail has been hit on the head... Muslims not only think their religion is the best and only real religion, some have the audacity to claim that others do not respect their own religions. What a generalization and insult to non-Muslims who hold their religion dear. Now we have the racist statement that the semitic race are the only ones to hold religion dear.

Perhaps Muslims should worry more about how Muslims disrespect their religion instead of what others say or do under their system of laws. A good place to show your disdain and anger may be the murder of 31 shias in Pakistan yesterday. Or is it ok to sit back and relax that people are getting murdered based on some sunni's interpretation of your religion? You can tell more of what is in someone's heart by what they don't do then what they actually do.

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

What an absolute joke. Mullahs can’t even decide whether or not beheading infidels and blowing up train stations is right or wrong. I’ll take the possibility of being insulted in a free society over the possibility of being mutlilated in an Islamic one any day.

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

yes sir, this is one of the basic points of our religion.for muslims who may want to disagree :this day have i perfected ur religion for u and chosen for u islam as ur religion]

if ur referring to me then please dont lie ,the words to which i agreed to were ***hold religion as very dear

we talk in generalities all the time ie the major trend, the flow…we dont talk like this ‘‘that man iftikhar son of chacha basheer was holding a burning torch and he whacked bob brown son of james brown on the head and then burned an embassy’’ ,we says muslims r protesting, muslims r a violent nation etc which includes the non violent ones as well.

with the ambigous n self motivated definitions for nearly evry religious and political statement anything can be racist if it affects the sensibilities.dont think that evry comment is an attack and evry muslim hates non muslims but this is an understandable paranoia [my wife to b was a christian by the way].
if u dont think that u r a mr-know-all-there-is-to-know-guy then do some research on the characteristics specific to nations and races.

a side issue to derail the topic but i agree with it.

ty for the advice.accept some of mine; its good to eat spinach.take calcium tablets every day with ur dinner.

depends.very subjective.

:k:

ps:i had no intention of causing u pain which inadvertantly i have.

u may already know it but in one of my previous posts i quoted pope benedict saying that christians r moving away from their faith.some additional material if u have the patience:

The 1999 survey showed 52 percent of “evangelical church kids say the only intellectual way to live is to make the best decisions you can based on your feelings at the moment.” The Barna reported the same thing “People are most likely to make their moral and ethical decisions on the basis of whatever feels right or comfortable in a situation.”(2002 Feb.)
Of the 7,441 Protestant pastors, 51 percent of the Methodists, 35 percent of the Presbyterians, 30 percent of the Episcopalians, and 33 percent of the American Baptists did not believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead. This is astounding. How can this be, these are pastors of churches? It’s a simple answer, they do not believe the Bible nor are they allowing it to govern their lives. The Bible is then reduced to a book with good advice, a self-improvement book, and to some, a book for success in the world.

The number of American adults who identify themselves with Christianity that can be classified as Christian dropped from 86% in 1990 to 77% in 2001. (According to ARIS Study American Religious Identification Survey was conducted in February to April 2001.)

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

You feel insulted in a society where there is a sense of honour, respect, shame and right or wrong...

In the absence of these the only thing remaining is a warped sense of freedom of speech...What can one possibly feel insulted about in such a society?

As for being mutilated for one's belief is concerned, I am sure you know of a few people in history who were mutilated and killed for their belief...They are honoured and revered for their sacrifices...

You would prefer to be insulted but do you know what honour lies in dying for a belief? You wouldn't...You would rather be insulted...

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

What's wrong with thinking that our religion is the best in the world? Do you feel offended? I think it's part of my freedom of expression to believe that I follow the best and the loftiest ideals in the form of my religion...

And audacity? What audacity? It's freedom of expression...If I say that others do not respect their religion like the Muslims respect and love Islam, it's my right to freely express it...There's no audacity in that...

Racist? To hold a view contrary to yours is racist? It's not racist, it's correct...Islam is the best religion and the most purest of religions...All others have been tainted, changed, messed with and tampered with...This is not a racist view, it's a fact...A fact that I shall promote on the basis of my freedom of expression...

There is no malice, no insult, no racism, no animosity, no confrontation in my statements...I am just stating the facts as I see them and that burns you up like you just swallowed a bowl full of blazing jalapenos...

And you expect Muslims to accept a freedom of expression that openly mocks and ridicules their faith in the form of freedom of expression?

Of course you do...That's your freedom of expression, that Muslims should just sit back and take abuse and not say a word...You are entitled to your beliefs...

I also believe that every Aryan Nation and white supremacist guy has the right to denigrate the blacks and the Jews...That is their freedom of expression...

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

**freedom of speech .
respect of religion .

we have fanatic, violent, ignorant muslims [me including ...dont worry] ,shias and sunnis both, united on the issue bcoz however rotten we r as muslims, however many factions we have, we do indeed hold our religion dear.

and we have the civilized world for freedom of speech,if someone had enuff [ofcourse i compare to our muslim standards] respect for their respective prophets they wud easily understand.

the difference in the approach is quite apparent isnt it?**

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

This coming from an individual who, rather than joining the jihad, enjoys living amongst the infidels as well as partaking of its many freedoms, including freedom of speech…

Re: Democratic arguments on Danish cartoons

Are you guys forgetting the reaction Mel Gibson got from (I shall define them as) “fundamentalist” Christians and Jews while filming the Passion of the Christ? They certainly were not peaceful and there was quite a lot of controversy towards the movie, and even now with The DaVinci Code.

Sure, nobody is burning empty buildings or anything like that, but they definitely made continuous death threats towards lovely Mel and all of his cast and crew and wouldn’t stop with the protests even after the movie was released.

What amazes me is that this was a blatantly racist series of cartoons made in a land where the society is supposedly ‘western’, ‘civilized’, ‘tolerant’ and where all people are supposedly equal. That is what the ‘West’ represents, right?

Majority of people like most of the users on GS (please, don’t generalize all of us as “mullah fanatics” due to the few individuals some of you butt heads with in World Affairs) come to the West looking for a better life. Our parents came here to give us a better future. The horizon in the ‘West’ is supposedly better for us, the future is better here for us which is why we live here, and yes, we expect better treatment (i.e. basic equality) than what we would be getting had we stayed in our native countries. Many of us love and cherish the freedoms and lives we have here. How do you think it makes us feel when someone who we think has accepted us as their own makes some disgusting cartoons mocking us based on pathetic stereotypes which people already DO believe about us? One would never dream of making cartoons like that of Christians/Jews … yet why is it acceptable to demonize Muslims like this? Are we not the same type of human beings that deserve the same sense of decency and respect that is given to others? Some of you just don’t get that this was racism that incites and promotes hatred, negative stereotypes and misconceptions, particularly for the ignorant. It has nothing to do with free speech and really is no different than what those “crazy Mullahs” are doing … the racism is just presented in a different manner.

The thought of Muslims even being remotely upset by what happened … well you just don’t understand why, do you? That is what baffles me. It’s hatred in its purest form turned into a joke. It’s not something that can just be laughed off. It was racism that was openly presented and published in many European papers. You are going down a very dangerous road when you make it acceptable to make racist statements like this for a select group of people only (Muslims) without having to be held accountable for.

Please, don’t turn this into, “well look at what them Muslims are doing in the Middle East”. The comments I read here make it sound as if you believe all of us Muslims are violent and I’m quite sick of it just like you guys are sick of the “white trash” statements. Nobody in Canada or America has gone out on the streets and done anything violent since the cartoons came out, yet our mosques in Quebec and other cities have been attacked.

Anyway, after reading the comments in World Affairs and other areas on GS, I don’t even know what makes you think that those fringe elements are even remotely controllable by us … as if our protesting in the streets and burning down buildings (which is what a few of you have suggested we do in response to the killings of innocents in the name of Islam) will some how stop this fringe element from carrying out their atrocities. As if they will put down their weapons and say, “yes, you are right”. They are **BEYOND CONTROL **which is what many of you just don’t get. Many “mullahs” have openly condemned the suicide bombings and any attacks on innocent people, yet those are conveniently ignored … it’s a lot easier to focus on the fanatics.

Anyway, I digress … I was talking about Europe. If you want to demonize Osama Bin Laden and his posse, by all means go ahead. When you attack an individual who truly has nothing to do with current events, a peaceful man who is the Messenger of God, well you are going to hurt some feelings and cause a reaction.

What this journalist did was demonize a beloved Prophet and basically all followers of Islam … but again, you guys just don’t get it – but it’s not you, your faith or your feelings that have been hurt cause the racism wasn’t towards you, it was towards us.

Yeah, we are sensitive “cry babies”, particularly after 9/11. The sweeping generalization that has become pretty common that we are all a bunch of backward terrorists is hard enough to deal with everywhere we go, be it in the office or with friends or even when on vacation in the Caribbean  , and this is just another unnecessary slap in the face.

I expect this kind of intolerant trash coming from truly intolerant states in other parts of the world. I don’t expect this kind of behaviour from ‘advanced’ and ‘civilized’ European countries, especially after the treatment of Jews during WWII.

Freedom of speech ends when it becomes an incitement for hatred.

you are not semitic!!!
no pakistani is semitic!!!

semitic people are arabs and jews  think about it!

Re: Proper response to cartoon

Why do people find this difficult to understand?
Why must they insist that these options are either not available to them or not enough?

And why is it okay to suggest that if people react with violence, then they do so because they know no other way?

Re: Proper response to cartoon

^ Why is Ok for a person to Make fun of sum1 before getting to knoe them first? Why do people sterotype others. Simply Put, Evert action has a reaction.

Re: Go Back To School And Study!!!

such hypocrites!

I totally agree we do need to raise our voice but i think this was just an excuse for not going to college plus they probably considered it as a field trip.

Why do Muslims think violence is the way to go?

Re: Go Back To School And Study!!!

What was the point of damaging school property?

Cartoons And The Muslim Rancor

Dear Muslims, Non-Muslims, and those in-between,

Were the cartoons offensive to some peoples' sensibilities? Yes.

Are they the end of the world? No.

Does Muslim Ummah have bigger problems? Yes.

Please move the hell on instead of harping about the mindset and rationale of the muslim/non-muslim cartoonists. Re-group, have a strategy for bettering your lot, and when you do reach the positions of power, enact laws that protect your faith like some of our monotheist cousins have done.

Until then, get to work and end this idiocy. Shabash!

PS: mamaof3 hinted that but that shouted down. God forbid a gori speak the truth among us.
