Just to give you a taste of how expensive the accomodation is in U.A.E.: A couple of years back I was living in Abu Dhabi and my 3 bedroom apartment used to cost U.A.E. Dhs 105,000/= which equvates to ~US $ 2400/month. It was a good apartment in good location but certainly not top of the line. In the last two years, I safely presume that the prices would have gone up. Dubai is only slightly cheaper than Abu Dhabi.
If the company you are going to join is not paying for your accomodation, it is not really worth it.
Someone forgot to mention one of the big advantages of working in U.A.E.: At the most 3 hours from home sweet home. Well! If you have home there.
One more thing: Emirates Airlines (Dubai National Airlines) is considered the best in the world. It has the biggest pre-order for the new Airbus A380s giants!!
The Palm island will be second man-made structure, after GWOC, to be visible from moon.
A lot of international companies look at this website to hire in Dubai: http://www.nadia-me.com/
As a paki or an indi, you will surely get less salary than a gora or a national counterpart, especially if you are working in one of the national companies. I declined the offer from Etisalat (their telecomm company) because of the pay they offered me. Most of the international companies are not bad if you are a technical specialist.
If you want to know any further info, I shall be happy to share as well.
I beg to differ. After working in most of the Muslim countries, (please forget about hypocracy and stuff for the moment) I realize that Pakistanis live the most Islamic LIFESTYLE compared to any other Islamic country. Yes! only lifestyle.
$$$ 27 Billion, yes billion & this is what 10km of Dubai will look like after sometime. Good oppurtunity for those entrepreneurs who are in the hotel business
With brains & talent like urs, I can assure u a guaranteed job with lots of return. Ur dad has bought a home here, y dont u just shift here & see for Urself.
Etisalat, our beloved honey bunny who has bought PTCL shares. Has shares in Saudi Arabia as well, & is planning on capturing the Afghani market as well.
i was planning to move to canada or australia but now also considering the gulf.
well, if i manage to get a job there, that is.
i'm a pilot. very little experience, which is mostly military flying experience. i saw emirates airlines website but they are asking for lots of experience. how about the opportunities for CPL holders and a few hundred hours experience holders like myself? i'd really appreciate it if you could find out and lemme know coz i have to act quickly.
Dubai's average inflation rate is 15% while wages are going up by 3% to 5%. It might look good when you first moved there but soon after you will feel the pinch.
BTW, in Dubai or anyother other Gulf contry you will always be a second class citizen regardless of what you own or invested. Atleast in Canada, Austrailia or other countries you will get equal rights atleast on paper :)
Dude, the 2 airlines here Emirates & Etihad, both of them recruit only goras & local nationalities. If you have contacts, you can probably be a pilot for one the sheikh's private jets or amiri flights, but that is again a fat chance. I cannot comment much but with the sort of experience you have, try applying in Etihad, probably they will accept you.

WRONG! In all muslims countries, muslims are treated with respect like fellow muslims should be treated. Hence, Pakistanis stand a better chance to be treated like brothers in Arab world unlike Indians or Bangladeshi given our adherence to Sunni Islam :) I am not sure but Arabs really like Pakistanis and go and pray together in mosques
^^ I do not know which part of Arabia you are talking about, but many Arabs are very racist towards South Asians & Blacks.
In KSA & UAE, per my knowledge, Yemeni people get treated the worse (because they are black), followed by Indians (usually dark, and non-Muslim), and then Pakistanis.
Places like Syria & Jordan, many people would dismiss Blacks as animals, and they are more racists towards South Asians, than those in KSA & UAE.
Sorry for not elaborating earlier, it means, that once you have paid for that particular plot of land & have it registered in Dubai land department, it becomes yours, without any further taxes or any dues. It is directly under your name. Expats were not allowed to do this before.
Racism is there in every part of the world, but here in Dubai, Pakistanis are not always treated like that. I have lived my life here, with local emirati population, I have cousins married with them, I am invited to races, cultural festivals etc. Its not that bad.
Maybe I am wrong.. I would take your word, since you've lived there. Besides, I wasn't judging all Arabs.. just a few, in some countries. That is.. just from my own experience, and what people I know have told me.
The average Arab isn't racist.
