So I’ve noticed how some people have these car hangings of Quranic verses or tasbeehs etc. Is there really any barkat in hanging dua-e-safar in the car but not actually reciting it? And is it degrading to place Quranic verses in random places like this?
the reason they r there is affection.........the same reason why ppl keep their children's photos in their wallet..........I am a tasbeeh collector and I have tasbeehs hanging in my room and in my car...........some of them have been touched to sacred places like the Kaaba..........I don't believe nor expect that I will be rewarded from them or by my act of hanging them from Allah SWT..........but can anyone really say that I won't be rewarded?.......I do it out of my personal feeling of attraction towards them...........
we need ppl putting banners of 'Ya Hussain' rather than the posters of Justin Timberlake or Shahrukh Khan.........the only single wage asked for us for the message Islam by Allah Himself through Mohammad SAWW is present very clearly in the Quran and it is nothing but 'LOVE'.........see verse 23 of chapter 42 for those who do not know......

I read tasbeeh (astaghfaar) on my way to home-office-home so thats why I left it hanging in my car. There is no harm nor degrade of any Quranic verses i.e. 'Dua-e-safaar' hanged in car. If passenger/driver sit and read it, automatically we will get 'sawab/ajar'. Depend on our intention too why we hanged it .
Although if some verses are placed outside on the window (in sticker shape) then I disagree because some cat/mouse steps on it. Better not to place it outside.
^ More realistic question would be.. how does the barakat works when you have Ayat-al Kursi hanging from rear view mirror and CD player blasting Munni Budnam Hui at full volume?
i usually dont put any surah/dua versers in my car, just in case im in the mood to listen to music. I do hang a tasbeeh though. For me its a reminder to remember Allah.
I guess people think of when hanging the surah/dua verses is the same as wearing a one of those things around their neck (forgot the name of it). Probably believes it will protect them. Some peoople of the safar dua in the car to help them read it and as a reminder to read it.
i guess other people can see it as decorative. just like hanging frames/artwork of surahs around the home.
I think there is no barkat until we read, recite it. It is same as keeping the Musallah at home but never offered prayerd. Than there is no barkat except its a another piece like a carpet. Degrading is different matter though.
So what if you have it hanging in your car but gettin busy (NOT with a spouse) in teh backseat. is it hypocrisy?

Pressure-cooker make sounds (whistle) at a point. we shouldn't keep it home too. :D

Maybe someone on here has a proper understanding of this and could explain but isn't this sort of considered a form of shirk? When you're attributing qualities that are only reserved for Allah swt to something else such as a car hanging? Allah is supposed to be your only protector.
Or does this depend on intentions? If people are intending on hanging it so it can give them extra barakah or protection, then it's probably wrong but if it's there to remind them to read Dua-e-safar or would be able to read it if they haven't had it memorized then it's okay?
I just somehow think considering it as something that will protect you or give you more sawab is somehow wrong?

Allah SWT is the one who cures.... why do you go to the doctor........and why do u rely on medicines to seek cure?
Allah SWT is the one who shows ways.............why do u use GPS to help u find ways?
Allah SWT is the source of all the knowledge.......why do u look for ur answers at google?
u will find ur answer in the bolded part of wht u had said earlier.......

I never thought of it that way.
Isn't it different if it's something religious though? because it might become some sort of a ritual with a religious connotation and end up in bid'aa so you have to be more careful.
Like say, a person has this hanging thing in his car but he washes his car one day and takes it off. He forgets to put it back on and goes driving someplace. Coincidentally he gets into a car accident and somehow starts getting the idea that it was because he didn't have it in his car. Therefore after that he makes sure he never takes it off and makes his family members use them too. Things like that which become a ritual with a religious twist, is what I was wondering about. I think that's the reason why a lot of scholars frown upon the use of Quran when a bride and groom are walking down the aisle.
It reminds me about something I read a long time ago. I don't know how accurate it is but it was about how idol worshipping started. A very revered, respected elderly guy died and his family members/friends would sit and talk about him and reminisce about him. Then Shaitan put this idea into their minds that maybe it'll be better to make some sort of a portrait or statue of this guy so it'll be hard to forget his face etc., then they started telling their children about this guy's qualities how he was a good guy and everything. Overtime the guys status got even more elevated and people sort of started worshipping it. And other people started doing the same thing, making statues of people they respected etc.
but like you said, it depends on the intentions. As long as people don't start thinking that it has special powers or something.

almost anything is open to abuse and corruption.........as per Quran even ur own families and children can b source of distraction from God........
let me ask u a question.............if an ignorant group of ppl go to the Kaaba thinking this is the black box where God physically resides........or shaitaan puts the idea in their mind that this box on its own has power to heal and cure............then does this situation warrant tht the Kaaba be destroyed nauzobillah or does it mean that these ppl are ignorant and need enlightenment and education?
