A relative of mine is going to Pakistan for a few weeks and offered to bring me back one or two outfits. I’m pushing to get two lawn ones, since I already have enough formals and since suitcase space is an issue.
I really wanted to get a capri pant outfit made, but I needed some input. What should the shirt look like, how long should it be, what should the galla be, sleeve length, etc. Also, should the capri pant be made out of a heavier material, like cotton instead of lawn? How long should it be (mid shin?), and should it be a solid color (white, cream, black?) I’d like to know what’s hot at the moment.
I’ve tried searching for capri outfits here, but I got overwhelmed at the results. If it’s possible, could you post some links or some pics about capri pant outfits and the latest lawn outfits. I went on Gul Ahmed’s website, but their “spring catalog” was taking forver to download, so I gave up. I went to fashionpk.net, and they had some lawn outfits, but I hadn’t seen capris. Are there any other sources worth checking out? Thanks for your input!!!
Raatkirani, the material for capri's is either cotton or "chicken" at the moment. You have it any length u want it to be..mid-calf or even just below the knee. Capri's are a single color and i've seen that most of the lawn kameez'es are being worn with white capri's.
For the kameez it depends entirely on u and u're body-type. But the empire waist type of kameez'es are in at the moment and so are laces (vertical) just below the bust area. Gala's are clean and simple.. u can go for a key-hole gala or square, "V-neck" there are so many choices. But with the vertical lace the "V-neck" actually looks the best!
ask her to get you gul ahmed or al karam. the quality of their lawn is nice for capris. or something from bareeze which will be on the expensive side. gul ahmed starts from 1500 Rs for three piece suits. and al karam like 1200. bareeze is 3000 and up. u dont have to go with really long shirts i think 36 or 37 is a good bet if you are my height (5'4) and for the capris i did 32 inches. u could do a sherwani collar with contrast piping on the neck and sleeves. they also have these really pretty floral lawn suits in karachi these days where a very floraly shirt is paired with a plain white shalwar/capris and a chiffon dupatta with a floral print.

I want to get capris made from Pakistan too, but I was unsure of what sizing to give for the darzi..do I have to measure like the circumference of my thight and my knee and calf etc and give all that?
Capris - go with cotton, or chiken border kapra from bareeze like Gina said. I made straight trousers for a Gul Ahmad suit and lawn kapra is just too delicate and wears down quickly because of bend at knees while sitting, etc. Same goes for Al Karam. Like shweets said, white capris/shalwars with printed kameezes are very much in.
Shirts - sherwani collars are still very much in, and you can dress it up with a gorgeous bling bling lace, or you can get the sophisticated look with piping. I think what Gina meant to say was a horizontal single lace below the bust to get the empire waiste look. You can go with any gala design you like, just dress it up with lace.
a friend of mine just got back from karachi- she got short, mid-calf length capris made with a long, empire waist, anarkali shirt. also these days the kameezes are longer and the capris shorter so that when you stand, you look like you're wearing a dress cos capris are just below the knee. i think my mom would beat for wearing those, so i get mind made mid-calf :p
Yeah sorry lol..I meant horizontal! Capri's look fab in "chicken" I got one made in cream that has a cut-work bottom. But go with whatever size u blv looks nice on you.

Hi there plz chek my thread stylobabe's gallery am sure u will get an idea of the summer clothes over there.....as for lenght of capris it depends on u how much u r comfortable with ...shirt length must be below the knees....and galas r usually the sherwani style ....capris can be made from lawn too it doesnt matter if its lawn or cotton and if u get a three piece lawn suit then u just make capris from the shalwar ka kapra simple or else if u have many shirts u can make white ...offwhite or beige capris ...beige--coffee tones r really in for pants and capris in karachi...sleeves r kept 3/4
