This is literally a buffet of just candy! Usually decorated in long and short jars or vases. It has been done to death in many gora weddings – but I’m starting to see it being done in some desi weddings too! I think it’s such a cute and pretty idea. Plus you can have a candy buffet, give little paper bags and allow the guests to make their own favors, which works out really well!
You can really just make the buffet a part of your decor, by choosing the color of the candy, the decor around the candy, the little favor bags, etc;
Although, I would LOVE to have this at my wedding, it’s probably not favorable towards a big desi wedding. Gora weddings tend to be smaller. And of course, less guests = less sticky hands going into the candy jar. But adorable idea nevertheless!

^ we didn't have a candy buffet; we had a dessert buffet though. 10 different kinds of cakes and pies all laid out. it was delish!

I went to a desi wedding with a candy buffet. Guests were given little chinese takeout containers to put their candy in. Unfortunately all the “older” folks went at the buffet first and the poor kids were left behind

i would do this for my son's birthday or a shower rather than a wedding unless it was a small wedding. it doesn't quite work out when you have 400 guests i think. you'd need a ton of candy and you'd have 100 sugar-high kids running around even more haha

^ Yep. Definitely more appropriate for a smaller crowd.
Or a suggestion, maybe even have servers serve the candy to the folks to help maintain order.

and yes, I agree, I would totally love to have this at my wedding - it's cheaper than a dessert table and it looks cute and pretty! BUT, there is so much care that goes with it - little kids would go buckwild! And when it comes to desi weddings, most parents just let their little kiddos run around

Aw those are cute! But yeah, I don't want hyper kids runnign around at my wedding lol.
We're gonna have a dessert buffet though with different kinds of cupcakes and stuff. And a chocolate fountain and fruits. I guess I'll end up having hyper kids anyway lol.

OOOH CANDY BUFFETS!!
We have candy buffets and sweet bars at almost everything, my sister's and I always lay it out and it's always very popular. the one thing I would recommend though is to add some fruit rather than just pure candy, otherwise the kids will eat nothing but sweets and go a bit hyper, and it spoils the appetite a bit. Will post some pics of the candy bars we've done if I can find em, later :D

we did a cupcake bar for my brothers valima. it was a huge hit. we also got them a wee cake to cut, oh and also we served kulfi too. so fun!
