Candy Buffet!!

im luvin it!!

Re: Candy Buffet!!

I went to a wedding where they had an ice cream man. I thought it was the cutest idea ever, you could choose your cone and ice cream flavour and then get it decorated with sweets etc too.

Re: Candy Buffet!!

KPPPPPPPPP…that is the cutest idea everrrrrrrrrrr!

I love it when I see different and quirky things at a wedding…it feels like I got to know the couple a bit through their interesting choices.

I know this may sound a bit out there but I’ve always wanted to have a giant cupcake instead of a wedding cake…:cb:

One wedding I went to…the bride loved soul food so that was her wedding menu! Mac n cheese, collard greens, corn, etc etc etc and fried chicken! A pie buffet with so many I couldn’t figure out where to start…it was fun.

Re: Candy Buffet!!

^ nice and nice!

kp, love that idea!

Re: Candy Buffet!!

They are alot of fun to do  A friend & I recently have gotten into Candy Buffets… going to do one for my sisters wedding IA soon as well.. I have a few other ideas for different buffet styles… will share once I have them set up ;-p
Another thing we’ve gotten into – Cake Pops… not to hard to make, takes a bit of time, but ALOT of fun !! here are a few of pix

also- fun things for weddings- fresh mini donut makers, liquid nitrogen ice cream bar, ice cream sundae bar, frozen yogart bar… lol.. list goes on !

Re: Candy Buffet!!

I had candy floss machine and popcorn at my mehndi, it was a huge hit and I didn't have to organise any jars or anything lol!!

Re: Candy Buffet!!

^ awesome!

Re: Candy Buffet!!

I love the candy dessert table idea but there are several issues with it at desi weddings:
1) Kids run around trying to burn, touch, take, kick anything in their way. I can say Indian parents are bad at controlling them.

2) People use their hands in desi culture. It's fine, but when you got 400 hands sticking into a candy jar...ewwww.

3) Give desis a container to take free stuff and you're guaranteed to run out of everything. Seriously, we're the cheapest people out there and giving them a carte blanche is a bad idea.

4) Weddings are too large to cater to dessert table where people can keep putting more and more into their take home boxes.

BUT, you can do a dessert table with real desserts. Perhaps mini tarts, mini brownies, mini shot glass shortcakes, mini chocolate mousses in martini glasses. They would be a fun way to display them AND kids can't grab them because these desserts are more real food than M&Ms in a bowl.

Or, have a candy/dessert table at one of your smaller events like the mehndi or bridal shower if you have one.

Re: Candy Buffet!!

Great idea for bridal showers! I can almost envisage it with a vintage/paris theme -excited-

At the same time, if tried for an actual wedding reception can fail horribly with our desi guests - as it is tends to be with any kind of buffet cue: Iftaari buffet at the masjid -shaking head-

Re: Candy Buffet!!

^I looove that one, hope i can have something similar on my wedding. I was thinking of getting a pop corn machine/cart for my mehndi but it’s gonna be a small at home function so i’m concerned about the smell, what if it’s too strong and starts getting sickening, and people dropping it everywhere :bummer:

Re: Candy Buffet!!

^ A candy buffet would be great for a small in-home event :)
