Canada Voting 2004

Ok vote for liberals! dont vote for conservates :P

went to vote right after work... Liberals it is... just cuz its the lesser evil.

Ok so Liberals win a minority govt.

Let's see if they meet the NDP's needs. So it's a win for NDP too if you think about it.

Canadian voters urged not to eat their ballots

29 June 2004

VANCOUVER: Canadians went to the polls in a federal election yesterday with a firm warning from election officials: Please do not eat your ballots.

“Eating a ballot, not returning it or otherwise destroying or defacing it constitutes a serious breach of the Canada Elections Act,” Elections Canada warns on its website.

The issue was of sufficient concern to warrant inclusion in the site’s “Frequently asked Questions” section, above answers to such inquiries as “Why should I vote?” and “Am I registered?”

Three Alberta men were charged with eating their paper ballots during Canada’s last federal election, in 2000. The members of the Edible Ballot Society were protesting against what they said was a lack of real choice among candidates.

liberal minority govt it is! close elections though. it will be an interesting kichri in the parliment this time.

why the hell bloc qubec got so many votes? they stole all the liberal votes in Qubec.

 subha hogai maamoo…re mamoo!!!

Liberals (kharcheelay+nakhreelay+rangeelay+bharkeelay+but the only choice for “switzerland of North America”) aaway hi aaway :k:

We had no choice. Had anyone else leading the small ‘c’ party or had NDP have popular vote bank, Liberals would never have won this elections. Thanks to Mr. Harpers stupidity

Well Well Well

Who would have thought that the liberals were coming back. I guess the polls dint pick the last minute change over.
Seriously this is the perfect scenario: NDP riding Liberal ass throughout. Dissapointment for Quebec, but no regrets, as Bloc is in no position to pursue their goal i.e. seperation. They got that many seats not because people believe in their seperatist agenda, but because Quebecars were humilated due to sponsorship scandal.

Biggest loser is Gilles Duceppe. His Bloc won't be in control, it will be the NDP. Both are left of the centre but NDP is not separatist. So Duceppe knows his victory was a hollow one.

There are some reports, on Globe and Mail and CBC, that another election could be called within 12-24 months if this minority government becomes unstable.

The Green Party surprised everyone. They did REALLY well in this election. Sink your teeth on this fact - they got only 1100 votes in the 2000 federal elections. In yesterday's election, they got 500,000 votes. Not bad for one of the smallest parties in this campaign, and with no official election funding either.

just saw fahrenheit 911 today, and realized why the polls werent able to pick the canadian mood swing. IMO jack layton should thank Micheal Moore for releasing his film just 3 days prior to the canadian elections. Most public polls were conducted on thursday jun 24, and majority of them showed cons in a lead; Fahrenheit 911 came on jun 25th so the public pollsters had no chance of evaluating its impact. The reason why so many ppl voted NDP was due to mr layton's tough anti bush stance, and the movie does a superb job of bush bashing....too bad that the US polls are in november, and by then the public would have forgotten about fahrenheit 911

i guess one of the pakistanies won elections this time and he is part of government.
