can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

ok so m bCK after a long time and still have nothin positive to say, unfortunately :frowning: my daughter is 7 mnths MA and still colicky. i have strted givin her solids(as in ceralac and banana, both separately) twice in a day.. give her my milk here and there and give her 5 oz bottle 3-4 times in a day (we sleep after 5-6am and wake up after 3pm) during her sleepin time i give her my milk while she sleeps or put pacifier in her mouth.. we co-sleep becus of her colic. she is up after every half n hour to one hour kickin her legs and all.. sometimes she passes gas sometimes she dusnt. i m soooo tired. the more she is growin up the more her gas is increasing i dunno wot to do.. i m scared to give her anythin besides ceralac and banana. i do give her jarred food but only when im out. she enjoys food and looks at me eagerly whenever i eat but i dunno wot is appropriate for her. i tried searchin online wot foods to give to a colicky baby but foind no answer. pls suggest something.

PS: I m also givin her naunehaal which was said to make babies sleepy but not my baby. nothin is workin on her .. pls tell me how long i shud wait for her colic to go away.. i m exhausted .. i keep waitin for a miracle to happen but nothin ever happens… pls suggest solid foods that i can introduce and also haow to cure her colic. thanks!

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

have you tried giving her gas/colic drops? or gripe water? I give them to my son 15 mins before I give him the bottle and that has helped tremendously with gas

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

gripe wter, infacol... colicaid, saunf water and naunehaal.. u name it n ive used it but most of the times after feed cus my baby is cryin soooo hysterically for feed that i have to giv bottle but will def try to give 15mins before like u do and will see if it makes a difference.. thanks! wot solids wud u recommend i give her..cn i try sago daana, masoor daal and all??

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

i have heard that souf water is good try it

Re: can you believe it…?? stillll colicky!!

Mall, I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time. :hugz:

Since you’re treating the gas, I’m just wondering if that is really the reason she is awake or crying. Maybe something else is bothering her? Maybe she needs help settling into a routine? Could it be stranger anxiety or separation anxiety?

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

I have a paediatrician in the family who said that for colic drops/gripe water to work the tummy should be empty, if you give them after you give milk, first the milk will be digested then the medicines. Some mums on babycenter add the gripe water to the milk, I don't know their efficacy.
Not sure about what solids, but my aunt gave a little egg yolk of a fried egg to her son who was extremely colicky, she had to start solids at 3-4 months, also yoghurt, bananas, a little mashed rice

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

why did she have to strt solids at 3-4 mnths? ideally colicky babies shud strt even later than 6 cus their digestive system is unable to take milk so itll b even more difficult with solids. anyway i gv her naunehaal today before milk lets see wot happens. will try to give her wot u advised. thanks!

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

sahar it IS gas indeed. cus she wakes up movin her arms and legs and then strts cryin.. n sometimes even passes big gas. i dunno how long to hang in there seriously. ure rite she has no routine and honestly i wud love to have her in routine but how can i when her sleepin is so erratic. if i do lay her down sooner then i wud b runnin from room to room whenever she cries. its much easier to make her sleep when i m goin to sleep. anyway my priority is not my convenience but hers.. i m waitin for the day her gas disappears so i can make a routine for her. and yeah its not separtion anxiety, i think u didnt read my post. she sleeps with me in my bed becus of her colic

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

like i said ive tried that too ... but how did u give.. how much in oz and before or after feed. pls explain

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

SAHAR: one more thing... u asked how i know its gas... honestly sometimes its even confusing for me. like just few mins back i laid her down and within 15 mins she was up pullin her body(abdomen) up and legs moving and i tried pattin her to go to sleep didint work so i laid down and put her upside down on my chest and she kept quiet. i think she likes that her stomach is pressed a bit.. ive noticed this many times,. she sleeps better if she falls asleep on my chest and wakes up the moment i lay her down. the way she gets up after every 10-15-30 mins i m sure she has some prb

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

yar i really dont have that info sorry i have just heard this thing from every other person that give souf water 2 baby it cures gas even some of the ladies says that whether ur baby is having gas or not give it...... i m also expecting so keep on hearing advices for the baby so i just heard this n shared it
what i heard is that give 2 teaspoon of it after every 3 hrs i l check this into detail n vl let u know inshahallah

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

mall- bless you i feel for you, my lil one alhumdulilah didnt have it, yet she does get aliitle but of gas here and there, she did in the first few days, where she would react like she had colic, so bascially i gave her infacol BEFORE her milk, few times ive given it without milk, ( because she wouldnt drink anyway), and it worked, alhumdiliah shes fine....i think u trying too much, and too many things, we tried gripe water, it was useless, so we stuck with infacol...remember no side effects are known, these are almost safe things to use and try....stick with one, ans use BEFORE milk, they say it can last to 10 months..maybe urs is the unfortunate case.....but itl be ok....just get some advice from docs, use infacol before milk, and try burping her in between feeds..

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

mall= i gave souf water, in the beg- bascially its literally 6 pieces of ajwain, and same amount sauf, boil in water-let it cool. give it to baby cooled with NO AJWAIN OR SAUF BITS

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

try babymassage or try to see if the cereal has corn in it cuz corn may give gas problems

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

Mall, is there anyone near you, who actually can observe your daughter and has experience with children? I think you will benefit from advice from someone who is there with you, and can support you. Mom, MIL, doctor?

I'm just wondering about the pain from gas -- my daughter is gassy too, but she no longer seems to cry like she did in the first couple of months. That's why I was wondering if it's something else.

Does she have a bathtime/bedtime routine?

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

hey try this tip, my khala gave this tip and seemed to work my nephew. lay down yur baby on her stomach with a pillow underneath, so her legs and head will not be on pillow. now gently pat her back she will pass gass and get reliefed. hope this helps.

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

have you considered lactose intolerance or dairy/milk protein allergies?

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

^I believe the baby was already tested, but it may be worth retesting.

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

yup i m givin alot of things but like i said i m desperate. i feel so helpless. MA she is vv friendly and social baby and goes to anyone easily and dusnt cry or anything. her gas has decreased in the sense that now we can play with her and all... but still her sleepin is erratic. she dusnt sleep more than `15- half hour throughout the day.. nite.. dun even get me strted.. cus her nite strts after 3-4am. i m in pak rite now and infacol is expensive i will giv her once i m back in town. rite now m givin her naunehaal and mucaine which was prescribed by doc in Agha khan hosp. lets see how it affects her. as far as burpin her between meals is concerned... i give her 5 oz at one time *total 3 times daily and she cries if i try to take the bottle out by the time she finishes 3oz... so i m left with no choice but to let her finish. sometimes she burps... but mostly she dusnt.. but when i used to give her 4oz she used to burp as soon as she finished her bottle

Re: can you believe it...?? stillll colicky!!

my mother MIL everyone is wid me at some point of time(rite now its MIL) and no one can say anything except every kid has it and that shes healthy. honestly thaz wot each and every doc in dubai said and i even spent money to see a gud doc in agha khan hosp and he said the same damn thing. no one seems to understand. the only positive thing rite now is she is at an age where she interacts and plays and we have fun with her. so there r gud times too no doubt. its wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the first 3 torturous months i had to bear her gas the moment i laid her down. another thing sahar i wanna share. its not just gas thaz the prb. i feel her personality is such she HATES to b alone. even a sec of isolation is unbearable for her and she strts cryin. hell if i change her nappy(have fed her) and i wanna go wash my hands she strts crying.. rite now its ok but in dubai i m alone and its impossible for me to do anything in house. i have to wait for her dad to come and then i cook and all. so its not just gas but her overall personality. she is soooo talkative. she likes someone to talk to her. and MA if she cries u can distract her.. shes not one of those who keep crying. i have to bounce her talk to her... make noises. thaz wot my devars and ILs are doin. i give them enaya and they take care here and there so i get my peace of mind. but wot will i do when i m alone. my ILS bought a walker for her.. she stands on it.. obv cannot come forward and all but in that too she wants someone to b around her either talkin to her or just being there.
As far as gas is concerned... its ruining her sleep cycles. she sleeps for 15-30 mins and wakes up.. sometimes she cries sometimes she doesnt *i think she dusnt cry cus i go to her.. if shes alone in room she def cries and makes sure we know shes up. at nite time (after 2-3am) if she sleeps shes up after mins or half and hour pullin up her abdomen and legs and shakin her head here and there.. so its def not hunger... its pain. so basically its a mixture of so many things.. her gas.. her personality... it dusnt help that now that she is growin up she wants total attention and hates to b alone. its only adding to my worries. plus i m constantly worrying that she is not gettin proper solids. so far have not been adventurous enough to give anything total solid. i give her ceralac, banana thaz it. i gave her melted vanilla ice cream today and thinkin of givin her juice(normal one for adults) mixed with half water. i m so scared to give her anything thinkin maybe it will increase her colic.
sahar like i said in my post.. i think u didnt read... i dunt have any routine for her. no bathtime or bed time routine and only cus of her gas prb... cus she will b up after mins and so. i only lay her down for the nite when i sleep. i explained that in my previous post. pls do read that also.
