is it Rs. 5? or $10? i never ever purchased a platform ticket in my life...in AligaRh and in Lucknow or Allahabad...students or young people never buy a platform ticket...it kinda amounts to insult if you purchase it! lol...how weird? yes, it is! :D

Used to be Rs 1 several decades ago. I suspect it is Rs 10 now.

OMG...you are that old? lol...usually, the amount charged for a platform ticket is equivalent to the fare to the next station in second mail/express class. makes sense though! :)

i always buy platform ticket…as maharashtra is strict as compared to up…
When group of 5 or 6 friends was visiting railway station to see off a friend…we bought platform tickets for all of us…
then i asked one of my friend to carry them..and told him ke policewala tumse hi puchhega kyon ke tum shakalse chor lagte ho:D..it was ok to use such language among friends…
and then policman asked the same guy for ticket:omg:

Railway police [GRP or RPF] kisii ko Haq nahiiN k vo passengers kaa ticket check kare...yes, they hold seats in unreserved coaches and sell it to peasants and poor people at a nominal fee and it's a different story...India meN abhii itnaa andher nahiiN hai.

It is easy to escape from aligarh but the traffic jam of aligarh is terrefic, the wall of railway station is still broken and if I nemember right it is broken from last ten years, so one can just cross platform and can reach road through broken wall :D

cultures itnaa important nahiiN jitnaa saHeeH deen ko bachchoN tak pahoNchaanaa hai...aajkal log musalmaan bhii hote haiN aur shirk bhii karte haiN...aise mushrik musalmaanoN se apne bachchoN ko bachaanaa ziyaada zaroorii hai...agree?

culture does affects religion. Sufi Islam of Sindh is quite different than Islam followed in Saudi with closed interpretations which sometimes promotes intolerance for others. If my children have to live in such a closed society, I will make sure that they understand essence of sufism to learn tolerance.

Punjabi in Pakistan survived because they speak the language but i think Urdu is taking over and from major cities in Pakistani Punjab Urdu has almost taken over...the Punjabis living in those Punjabi cities think it's kinda painDoo to speak Punjabi so they consider Urdu as the language of the Elite...they are shying away from teaching Punjabi.
In Pakistani Punjab, urdu is the official language, Punjabi is local language. Its a language of people and everyday use. When people are formal they often use urdu, when they are frank and friendly they speak Punjabi except for soem ultra-mummi-daddy families.
