n btw what is the difference between syed sunni and syed shia?
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
i think yaa she can.. like ma family is syed and ma aunt she is i think siddiqui or sumthing else she is not syed... and it doesnt matter if some syed is getting married in non-syedss... Our Prophet (PBUH) nvr said such things sooo ya its normal :)
i dunno the diff btwn syed sunni and syed shiiaa....
perrsonally i m syed sunni and i dnt think that i will get married in syed sunnis
Shari’ah has taken great precaution in ensuring that nikah with an incompatible person does not take place. Therefore, Shari’ah advices one to perform nikah within those who are compatible and equal in the following factors:
- Lineage.
- Islam.
- Piety.
- Wealth.
- Profession or occupation.
The Sayyeds hold the highest rank as far as lineage is concerned. The ‘Alawis and the Ansaris follow thereafter. However, all three will be regarded as equal in lineage and marriage between them will be regarded as compatible. Marriage of a Sayyed to anyone lower in status will be regarded as incompatible.
The issue of incompatibility in marriage will only take effect when a girl marries a person who is incompatible to her, without the consent of the wali (guardian). The wali will then have the right to annul the marriage. On the other hand, if the wali himself gets his daughter married to an incompatible person and feels that this person would be more suitable for his daughter, then it will be permissible for him to do so. Similarly, it will be permissible for a boy to get married to a girl who is not compatible to him.
In the light of the abovementioned, it will not be permissible for you to get married to a non-Sayyed without the consent of the guardian.** However, if you find a boy who is not a Sayyed, but is bestowed with the bounties of knowledge and good character; it will be permissible for you to marry him with the consent of your guardian**.
And Allah knows best
thank u alot.
actually in my case im a non-syed and i like a syed sunni girl and she likes me too.we both want to get married,my parents have given me positive response but she told me that her father does not allow his daughter to marry a non-syed.he said he will only marry her to a syed sunni...so thats why i got confused because i think this type of case was with syed shias when marriage between shias and sunni was a debatable case but here its syed sunni and non-syed....is it halal to marry her if her father allows to?
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
Yes she can .. and my prime example of this is my sheikh ..who is non - sayyed and IS married to a Sayyida.
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
how does someone know that they are truly syeds and descendents of the Holy Prophet SAw? do they have a legal document stating this?
I head that if you a descendent, your hajj will be free of cost. A guy from my hajj group who was Egyptian was a descendent, and had some sort of document to prove it, but it was in Egypt, and therefore didn't provide it when he appiled for his Hajj Visa.
Anyways, back to the topic...although Lineage is one of the 4 important qualities one should look for..its the most important..that is someone's piety that is the most important.
We need to stop dividing our ummah.

mashallah.
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
There are non sayyeds who are more religious than sayyed's.. Just by having relations with the Prophet (saw) doesn't mean it's wajib for you marry a sayyeda lol.

I agree

The more reputable families have heirloom family trees (shajrah-e-nasb) that trace their descent back to the prophet.
n btw what is the difference between syed sunni and syed shia?
And lol there's no difference. They're both saadat, 1 is Sunni and 1 is Shia. How is that hard to understand o_O
Istaghfir’allah
If Islam has set conditions of lineage for marriage then all lectures on equality of Muslims and superiority only on the basis of Taqwa is wrong ( doesn’t matter what logic one have)
There are no conditions whatsoever for a marriage… yes there are some things we may consider based on the social values and compatibility… but saying a non-syed cannot marry to syed is like a non-brahmin cannot marry a brahmin
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
No, you can only marry among your first cousins. That is the law as set by your district commissioner and chacha daulatraam.
Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
a syed sunni can marry a non syed. a syed shia can marry a non syed. As far as the person is Muslim it doesn't matter. There are families who prefer marrying in the syed clan, that is purely personal prefrence....there is nothing haram or halal related to it.

He didn't full stop say "you can't.". He gave reasons based on his studies of the books. Allah knows best.

Lineage cannot be the reason..
Lineage cannot be the reason..
Why not?

Re: can a Syed SUNII Girl marry a non-syed boy??
It never fails to amaze me how this whole Sayyed and Non-Sayyed divide is found in the subcontinent and not in the Arab countries where presumably we should be able to find more people claiming lineage to the Prophet PBUH... and yes, when it comes to this issue... equality gayi bhaar mey - what hypocrisy really!
