I have heard that you can't give zakat to syeds, which doesn't make sense unless it implies that giving zakat to them means insulting the syed line. I have never heard anything about marriage or that syeds are superior.

unfortunately this is probably from the hindu pak culture...as I believe(correct me if i,m wrong) they have a very strong caste system...

Actually she told me that her parents once grabbed a boy by his collar because he wanted to be with her, and it was mainly because he was from a very low caste. Her parents confronted his parents and warned them to stay away from their daughter. People tell me that my caste is not low, but others tell me it IS low. Why do so many things matter when it comes to choosing a partner. I'm educated, about to get my D.D.S. I'm a muslim. I'm a caring person, I mean what the hell else can they want?

Regardless of what the intent of the OP was, oh wise one, please answer this question: Do you believe that some Muslims continue to give importance to artificially created "caste systems"? And if caste systems exist, isn't it worth having a conversation about them to challenge these artificial social constructs?

Ok guys, first of all I must say I am not Sayed actually a Rajput.
Although Islam does not have any cast system, these casts only for onces identification only and one can freely marry any other Muslim without any regard of cast.
But I still believe syeds being descendants of Prophit PBH are needed to respected, on other side they should be humble do not try to take undue advantage for that.
Raseool Allah SAW was proud on being Banu Hashim, so there is nothing wrong someone being pround of being Syed, Rajput or Chouhadri as long as do not discriminate against others.
Even Rasool Allah SAW marries her cousin, to his freed salve and adopted son Hazrat Zaid Bin Harisah, so notion of not marrying outside certain cast is unislamic.
It is true Syeds are not allow to take Sadqa, as Rasool Allah does not accept for himself and also forbid his descendants accepting this. So it is advisable if you see anyone descendant of Rasool Allah SAW need financial help, instead of giving Sadqa help them on other accounts (not sure about giving them Zakat or Khairat most likely allowed).

Correction to my earlier post.
I checked with some AALIM, and found that it is true that one can not give Zakat and Sadqa to any Sayed, But u r still encourage to help them.

but again, i want to say that being syed is not make you to be eligible for paradise.
