whilst i think that fabregas does slow the game down, i would hardly call him a flop. He doesnt have the pace to be a winger. Thats why barcelona were eager to get rid of him for only 27 million. At chelsea he could rotate with hazard and play central attacking mid - maybe even start if hazard does end up going to psg

Last season was the first time Costa played upfront. The season before they had Falcao, who was obviously the main man upfront and had the team built around him. Costa would play behind him or as a wide forward. If you've seen Costa play this season you'd know he's got the lot. He's quick, he can shoot with either foot, he can head it, he's physical and to top it all off he's a nasty guy and a talented cheat. Everything to succeed in the modern game. Of course he could be a flop, anyone can be a flop, and he'll need time to adjust in the premier league but he'll do well I think.

Andy Carroll never even came close to achieving what Costa did last season. He was nothing more than a glorified Kevin Davies.

Don't judge players on how they play for their international teams. A completely different system, with players they don't have a good understanding with, different tactics, different managers. Sometimes they flourish, sometimes they don't. Every player is different. And of course playing in Brazil added extra pressure on Costa.

Fabregas wasn't a flop at Barcelona. Check his stats. He was also never played in his proper position. Messed around upfront, out wide. He's used to the premier league, and Mourinho will ensure everything goes through him.

I've been watching la liga all season. I know exactly how he played. Obviously your opinion of him is gonna be a different perspective than mine. He's pretty slow and is prone to mistakes. How as a striker in 6 games at a professional level can he not even score a goal yet he's still called a class player? He was never class. One hit wonder right there. What has he done? Name me anything that he's done which is "class" that another striker couldn't do? Cheat like him? Lmao. His cheating won't get him very far in the PL.

Twitter is going nuts about how much of a flop he is and everyone is saying he was the wrong decision to even start for spain and it's true. What did he do against holland or chile? Nothing. Scissor kick, wow.. This ain't street fighter.

Andy caroll in 09/10 vs costa in 13/14 i'd rather take andy caroll. He scored 19 goals and wasn't even there main centre foward.

I'm not really for all this talk about positions. A great player can adjust to any position. A flop can adjust to nothing, except being fed balls by talented players.

You seemed to either deliberately or not deliberately not take into account what positions players are played under and you base your opinions without taking that into account. Carroll was quality? The guy was abysmal in the league, will be abysmal in the league and has always been abysmal in the league. The 35 million move was laughed out in every single newspaper and footballing circle. Liverpool also shelled out 20 million for Robbie Keane.

Torres was dire at Chelsea. And the common consensus now is that Benitez ruined him after bringing him back too quickly every single time after every injury. But he was a beast beforehand. I have seen him at Anfield live in person and since him I haven't see anyone terrorise another defence the way he did till Suarez. And this coming from someone like who dislikes Liverpool.

As Londonfinest said, Costa has ALWAYS been NEVER played as a striker for A.Madrid other than last season. Understandable as they had Falcao. And yet you seem to think that makes no difference? I am inclined to think you weren't even watching the same Spain I was, if you were you'd see how awful the team was set out and the tactics they used. International football is very different in terms of playing personnel, tactics and managers. Add to that he also had to mentally deal with the abuse he gets in Brazil. Same with Fabregas, top assists despite never being played in a position he is meant to and you call that a flop. Read Londonsfinest's post. I am not basing this off a youtube video, but I watch the Spanish league regularly as well.

I don't know how good he will be in England. He might flop or he might not, common sense dictates to wait and see instead of making bold declarations.

He has had one good season at liverpool as a striker, the rest was way below average to average. all strikers carry injuries. It's not an excuse.

Well andy caroll is crap, I thought he was crap when they paid a stupid fee of £35mill for him and I was proved right. Just like chelsea paid £50mill for a flop called torres and now another flop called costa. I can't wait for the 14/15 season. Can't wait for my predictions to come true. My ego isn't that big that i'm claiming i'm right before it's even happend. I might be wrong but time will tell.

Suarez is crap. Don't even get me started on him. Biggest cry baby cheater in the PL.

He wasn't even that good at liverpool. Dude had one good season and got over-hyped forever. Chelsea should get rid but they won't. My prediction is he'll be gone after he flops next season, and costa will probably be loaned out eventually like he always is.

Andy Carol and Costa don't even compare. The latter destroyed every team in his league and Europe and was BIG part of his team winning the title while the former was very poor and managed 2 goals in first 20 games and was so bad his **7th place team **shipped him out.

Unfortunately we have to talk about positions, name me one striker other than Messi or Ronaldo who has been good playing out of position. Its the same reason Rooney has been poor for Utd and England. You seem very knowledgeable so I am a stunned at your POV.

You cannot expect to throw a striker on a wing and an AMC on the wing and then call them a flop. One of whom still managed to be in the top assists chart.

Costa's class for Spain still is unclear. For club its undisputed. You cannot judge players on how they perform internationally. Otherwise Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Beckham, Suarez, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs etc they're all pants and flops.

Come on yaar, Torres had 2 fantastic seasons at Liverpool as a young player even tho those were marred by injury. He used to get Liverpool out of trouble singlehandedly.
