Andy Carol and Costa don't even compare. The latter destroyed every team in his league and Europe and was BIG part of his team winning the title while the former was very poor and managed 2 goals in first 20 games and was so bad his **7th place team **shipped him out.
Unfortunately we have to talk about positions, name me one striker other than Messi or Ronaldo who has been good playing out of position. Its the same reason Rooney has been poor for Utd and England. You seem very knowledgeable so I am a stunned at your POV.
You cannot expect to throw a striker on a wing and an AMC on the wing and then call them a flop. One of whom still managed to be in the top assists chart.
Costa's class for Spain still is unclear. For club its undisputed. You cannot judge players on how they perform internationally. Otherwise Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Beckham, Suarez, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs etc they're all pants and flops.
I think they do compare, cause they are both flops. Costa is just another striker. Could have put alan shearer up there and atl madrid would still have won. You know why? Cause the rest of the team were perfect. Not cause costa was a good striker.
Rooney is one and not only does he play out of position, he makes an impact in defence aswell. What about costa? What has he ever done that is notable with the exception of this season? Even this season he is pretty average to me.

Come on yaar, Torres had 2 fantastic seasons at Liverpool as a young player even tho those were marred by injury. He used to get Liverpool out of trouble singlehandedly.

RVP has scored 3 goals so far in this tournament, that's 3 more than costa ever has for any country. Rooney has scored goals for his country, so has messi and the rest. What has costa scored? 6 matches not enough time to even score 1 goal?

As it stands they have a team with no pace, noone making ANY overlapping runs behind the fullbacks the result is what you see. And you think all is fine with the tactics, which is the problem :). It is not a striker's job to make chances. Spain has virtually made none over the two game. I am assuming you listened to the commentary and the pundits afterwards. Heck before the game we even had people here saying how static Spain are. Henry also said the game cried for Fabregas. They got Santi in the end instead of Alonso, and we have 2 goals nearly.

Nop, I'll try to have the reasonable perspective that only time tells whether someone is a flop or not. As I said I, for the first time on GS, am lost for words at how to counter a post saying Heskey and Carroll, two comdey figures in British football, are superb while Ageuro and a guy who's got very big club in europe foaming for his signature are bad.
