Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Possession stat shows it all how far Spain have fallen and how poor their midfield has been. Shocking stuff.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Any team having Arsenal players - what else can you expect. ;)

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Germany, Netherlands and Argentina. One of them should win the WC

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Hey the only Arsenal player they had was on the bench and scored nearly two times when he came on for the last ten minutes :snooty:

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Germany, Argentina, then Brazil and Netherlands. The first three have solid defences, while Netherlands have a very good attack but very poor defence.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Now Only Germany

Why bring on torres is what baffles me. His goal tally at Chelsea doesn't show him to be a goal firer. It would have made more sense to have David villa on instead.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Those were the same people who wanted torres and look what happend. Thank god man utd didn't get him. Chelsea can now have 3 spanish flops in torres, cesc and costa. The guy has had 1 good season at atl madrid. Doesn't make him a superstar, that was the case we should be getting on our knees for andy carroll, look what a flop he turned out to be.

He's played 94 games as a striker for atl madrid and only scored 43 goals. 27 of those goals were in 13-14 season. He's gonna be a one hit flop. Watch and see.

And you're wrong btw, costa has never scored an international goal. When he played 2 games for brazil, 0 goals and in 4 games for spain (inc this one) he's never scored. Flop written all over him.

Fyi someone should check his birth certificate, he looks 40.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Yaar why aren’t you posting here

I agree! They work well with David Villa, and he’s not even had a look in.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

So history repeats itself..

2002 champion France gets ousted in first round in 2006

2006 champ Italy got punished the same way in 2010

And 2010 champ Spain.. we all saw :)

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Fabregas is a flop? Have you even watched him at Barcelona? I doubt it since if you had then you would know he has never been played in a proper AMC position. He has been played either as a wide winger or a striker. And he will flop at those. Even with that he has been the highest assist getter in Europe for the past 5 years. That is some flop.

As for Torres, the time Chelsea bought him just months ago before that he ended up with 30 odd goals for 2-3 seasons in a row, which is why noone raised any eyebrows on the price.

As for Costa, he helped Atheltco dethrone Barca and Madrid and you call him a one season wonder? Me and you aren't seers, he may very well be a flop but anyone who has watched him properly for the last season knows he is a quality player. Some players mature late, doesn't mean they're sh1t.

I never said Costa scored a goal...I said the only goal Spain have scored was down to him winning that penalty after leaving the Dutch defence on their knees.

Football is more than players, it is about systems which teams employ which either get the best out of the players or either everyone flops.

Spain played one with past it players, a shoddy defence, appalling tactics and zero width. Its no wonder they were dire.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Also you mentioned Carroll....when did he ever score 25+goals in the Premier league? He'd have to have been class first before being a flop.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

The Spanish team as a whole has been a disappointment, and lack of tactics. Looks as if they never played with a plan against their opponents in both matches. With this form, Australia are favourites against them in next match.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Sums it up perfectly.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Last season was the first time Costa played upfront. The season before they had Falcao, who was obviously the main man upfront and had the team built around him. Costa would play behind him or as a wide forward.
If you've seen Costa play this season you'd know he's got the lot. He's quick, he can shoot with either foot, he can head it, he's physical and to top it all off he's a nasty guy and a talented cheat. Everything to succeed in the modern game. Of course he could be a flop, anyone can be a flop, and he'll need time to adjust in the premier league but he'll do well I think.

Andy Carroll never even came close to achieving what Costa did last season. He was nothing more than a glorified Kevin Davies.

Don't judge players on how they play for their international teams. A completely different system, with players they don't have a good understanding with, different tactics, different managers. Sometimes they flourish, sometimes they don't. Every player is different. And of course playing in Brazil added extra pressure on Costa.

Fabregas wasn't a flop at Barcelona. Check his stats. He was also never played in his proper position. Messed around upfront, out wide. He's used to the premier league, and Mourinho will ensure everything goes through him.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

^ Pretty much.

You can't look at players who aren't even played in the proper position with poor and shoddy tactics they're meant to be working under and then call them flops.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Bruv what you talking about? Cesc is done. And torres 30+ goals for 2-3 season in a row? Lmao.

Torres;

Atl madrid 06/07 Total goals 15
Liverpool 07/08 Total goals 33
Liverpool 08/09 Total goals 17
Liverpool 09/10 Total goals 22
Chelsea 10/11 total goals 9 Sold to chelsea midway through season and scored 1 goal in 14 matches. Lols. Total goals 10
Chelsea 11/12 total goals 11
Chelsea 12/13 total goals 22
Chelsea 13/14 total goals 11

(Including all champions league/league cup games)

You know what the irony is? Torres is a flop just like costa will be. Just like torres he's coming to the premier league from atl madrid and just like torres he very well might have one good season but he'll fall just like torres. It's fate. Costa ain't a quality player. Theres a reason why he was loaned out to rayo vallecano in 2012 for 16 games and it wasn't to get him fit back from injury.

As for andy caroll. He was bought for 35million by liverpool. That's the 2nd highest amount ever paid for a british footballer with bale being first. He doesn't have to score 25 goals to be "class". It was about quality rather than quanitity but as you'll see with costa he'll turned into a flop. How many times has costa scored 25+ goals? Last season was the only time. Not only that but he's been a professional striker since 2006 and didn't hit double number goals until 2013. He's destined to flop.

You got your opinions and I got mine. If i'm still around for the 14/15 season we'll revisit this discussion ;)

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Torres was a special player for Liverpool, those stats are for when he used to be a injured a lot as well.

You seemed to either deliberately or not deliberately not take into account what positions players are played under and you base your opinions without taking that into account. Carroll was quality? The guy was abysmal in the league, will be abysmal in the league and has always been abysmal in the league. The 35 million move was laughed out in every single newspaper and footballing circle. Liverpool also shelled out 20 million for Robbie Keane.

Torres was dire at Chelsea. And the common consensus now is that Benitez ruined him after bringing him back too quickly every single time after every injury. But he was a beast beforehand. I have seen him at Anfield live in person and since him I haven't see anyone terrorise another defence the way he did till Suarez. And this coming from someone like who dislikes Liverpool.

As Londonfinest said, Costa has ALWAYS been NEVER played as a striker for A.Madrid other than last season. Understandable as they had Falcao. And yet you seem to think that makes no difference? I am inclined to think you weren't even watching the same Spain I was, if you were you'd see how awful the team was set out and the tactics they used. International football is very different in terms of playing personnel, tactics and managers. Add to that he also had to mentally deal with the abuse he gets in Brazil. Same with Fabregas, top assists despite never being played in a position he is meant to and you call that a flop. Read Londonsfinest's post. I am not basing this off a youtube video, but I watch the Spanish league regularly as well.

I don't know how good he will be in England. He might flop or he might not, common sense dictates to wait and see instead of making bold declarations.

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Croatia v/s Cameroon.. Easy first goal for Croatia. Not much defense by Cam that time

Re: Cameron vs Cro, Aus vs Hol, Spn vs Chile

Also welcome to GS. Been a while since I had a heated debate about football. Gets the blood flowing again. :D
