I agree with La Jawab.....as long as you give respect to In Laws, doesn't matter whether its ammi or Aunto or khala. Relationship is not built on the name used when referring to them. I have the same issue, I can not call my mother in law 'Ammi' cuz I have only one ammi, and I don't want my mom to feel anything if I start calling MIL ammi in front of her. I dunno for me its weird. But it depends on guys, not sure why some guys make it such a big issue
^ what kind a fact? what did ur mom called mil/fil?
I mean yes I understand that they r not ur actual parents and can never take their place either but what I don't understand is wats the harm in calling ur mil/fil by mom n dad?
The way I think is once a guy or a girl get married they make a new family. It bcomes just like ur previous famly.Yes we all respect our in-laws but don't you think its kind a weird when u r calling ur parents mom n dad but ur hubby/wife is callin them aunty n uncle. Wouldnt u feel outsider?
My gori wife calls my mom and dad 'ammi' and 'abbu' respectively. It's quite cute as she can't really say it just right, but it's close enough and it's the thought that counts.
