Re: calling Pakistan ...

Tried a Skype phone Rozen? Its fairly inexpensive and voice quality is pretty good.

hmm Skype phone ... sounds interesting ..share some more ... is it internet based ? like that skype download thingy ?

cheers mate

Skype rocks! Free download, and a cheap headset from a big box office supply place and you're good to go. You must have highspeed internet. You can talk to anyone else who has downloaded skype and has a headset and highspeed internet, for free. And the sound quality is SO MUCH BETTER than a cell phone. I call a friend in Thailand and I can hear the birds chirping there and he can hear my son burping across the room! Because I have the kind of headset like on a walkman, when I talk to someone, it is like that person is in the middle of my head (you know, like how music sounds in the middle of your head when you have headphones on.)

You can also talk to people who do not have skype and are not on their computer, by paying for time. It is very cheap -- like a local call, because they route it to a skype connection in the same area and from there, so it is a local call. I'm not exactly sure how it works, because I've never done that. Anyway: it's free. And it has a chat function, too. Check it out!

Amantel.com and startec.com are good sites for calling in pakistan.

I checked yesterday and its 9p p/m with lyca now.

hey thanks buddy ... both websites seem to be focused on calls from US to Pakistan ... I am looking for UK to Pakistan cheaper call options ....

still exploring .....

Re: calling Pakistan ...

Tell your relatives to call you as it is so much cheaper from Pakistan! :)

Re: calling Pakistan ...

^ of course they never will! Lol! :)

Calling pakistan from UK is expensive? Since when? :hayaa:

My Mom calls my khala (s) every day, and if she doesn’t call than they call us…but i don’t think it’s expensive…

Last year it was much cheaper but than someone told me our Government put tax on incoming calls to pak (from abroad), hence it got expensive…

But i still think it’s okay, not that expensive i mean £5 calling card gives you something like 300-400 mins? Am i right? If i am than how can you call this expensive?

the £5 cards usually have an expiry date of a few days, so it is expensive in that sense. there are a lot of £1 cards that my mum uses, like babytalk, jeet, power etc, but they give you around 7/8 mins only. very expensive.

rosendeva, my hubby uses lebara, its 9 pence a minute, but they’ve given him lots of rewards and they also have an offer of where when you top up, they give you back half of the amount you’ve put on your phone. there doesnt seem to be anything much better than this at the moment. xx

Re: calling Pakistan ...

Actually those £5 cards expire after 30 days, and i have noticed sometimes my mom use £1 cards too, but they give you like 15-20mins not 7/8 mins as you said.....

Calling pakistan from uk is not that expensive, it's just that we are making it sound like expensive :D
