That was written for Eastern and Southern European immigrants who came to USA in the early 20th Century. They were white and christian just like most Americans.

I left Pakistan when I was 2.
So I don't have a 3rd world mentality but a 1st world one.
The people who come to Canada the FOBS have 3rd world mentality and insulate themselves with 3rd world people and thus you have clusters in the 1st world city like Toronto with 3rd world ghettos emerging.

Thats true it does. But generally, people who grow up in the west have much better attitutes than people who grow up back there.
I have seen this numerous times.
I dont drink, nor smoke. But when I am in University, I see Pakistani Foreign Students, the first thing they do when they arrive here, is go to a bar and get drunk and try to make friendship with white girls.
As if by doing this makes them better.

Merc, in the end, it is a US issue and not a canadian one. Since you are opposed to brownies immirating to teh west, I am assuming you will not be immigrating to the US anytime soon. Therefore it does not concern you. Its an internal US issue :)

but they are guest workers and once their work is done they should leave
they shouldn't be loop holes which allows them to settle and bring in their families and start sponsoring their relatives who then sponsor relatives and start a never ending immigration chain
There are plenty of guest workers who are here temporarily, all the tech coolies from India that show up on outsourced deals with Tata or Infosys can not stay in the country, thats part of the deal. Now is it fair to have them living seperate from their spouse and kids for no reason.
And as far as skilled labour immigration goes, there is a need, and there will be a bigger need as the baby boomers start retiring. The unskilled illegal mexican labour can only do so much. So skilled labour is needed not to just come in temporarily but to settle here and contribute towards the growth and innovation that keeps the economy going. This is different than canada where you are, which has all kinds of people that came in thorugh assylum and all, and the open immigration did not help either.
There is a resource crunch, and a bigger resoure crunch coming, and your preferred western european immigrants may be in shorter supply than before because those countries are facing and will be increasingly facing resource crunch.
Thus to keep the economic engine going skilled resources will be needed and the competition for them will only intensify. Regions from whcih skilled folks were coming in are either seeing a boom of their own where their motivation for coming to US is getting diminished so the pool of skileld ppl who want to move gets smaller (e.g. china and India) or economies that are on the verge of breakthrough e.g. Pakistan.
So with a need for skileld resurces, decreasing supply, and increased competition. Such short sighted laws do nothing but help W shoot US in the foot. All while beding over and bending over backward to appease the illegal mexican population by making their illegal stay a legal one without a system of checks and balances to see what kind of hoods and criminals have snuck in along with the decent folks.
Its akin to the mullahs in Pakistan breaking cds and ripping posters. easy highly visible shyt, which does nothing really.
Laws like these do nothing but help US shoot itself in the foot.

You’re right. I’ve even seen Paki girls doing the same too. but these kinda people don’t represent the majority. The majority of Asian workers/students/immigrants are still doing a great job.
I’m not saying that we are the best - But we are competent, hard working, educated & trained skilled workers. so overall, i guess we are doing pretty fine here.
And Americans are smart enough to know that. Thats why, they still let us in…

Cool Breeze is right, I dont know about canadian desis, but in US desis have above average education and above average income, way below average in terms of crimes, and way way below average in terms of percentage in prison.
