Cake Pops

Before I spend hours cursing Google for not helping me, does anyone have a good easy peasy reciepe for cake pops?

Vanilla flavoured, covered in milk chocolate with multicoloured strands?

Also, how do you store them? Where do I stick the sticks so that the chocolate can set?

And, how to present them? I would need to make them a day in advance and I dont want them to have that dry cake taste. Cling film sounds wrong.

Thank you!

Re: Cake Pops

:( you have asked a difficult question .. I hope one of these wonderful ladies can come over and help ..

Re: Cake Pops

For the easiest recipe: just use a box cake mix and a can of frosting, bake the cake, cool, crumble and mix the frosting in!

After putting the sticks in, you can let them sit, but the bottom might get a bit flat. You can stick the sticks into some styrofoam or something to support them upright

Present them in a nice jar!

Re: Cake Pops

Cake box mix: I would prefer to mix the ingredients myself as I like less sugar in my cakes, so I just bake a normal victoria sponge and then add frosting?

I only know how to make buttercream, how do I make frosting?

I need to wrap them individually.

Also, what size cake would I need to make in order to make about 30 cake pops? How much frosting would I need?

Thank you so much for the links!

If anyone has a tried and tested recipe, please let us know!

Re: Cake Pops

I LOVE cake pops! Just bake a box cake mix, crumble the cake and mix pre-made frosting into it. Then roll them into balls. Take the sticks and dip them into chocolate and then insert them into the cake balls, once they are all done put them in the freezer for a good amount of time so they set and aren’t soft. Once they set, take the stick with the cake ball attached and roll it into the melted chocolate and decorate as you please. Then let the chocolate set again.

The best way to store them is by inserting the stick side into styrofoam.

The last time I made them I used a glass with marbles in it to present them…I’m sure you could figure something else out, this was honestly the hardest part in making sure they looked good.

Here’s what they ended up looking like, presentation wise:

Good luck!

Re: Cake Pops

Awww they look like a nittle bunch of flowers! I likey.

However, I'm giving them to my kids, so they will need to be individually wrapped.

Im going to have a trial run on Sunday before I bake them next Thursday.

Re: Cake Pops

You posted this while I was writing my other post, sorry!

It's good you are doing a trial run, when it was my first time I tried it the day before and it was horrible!

Wow, these look great. I'm going to try making these too now, thanks for opening the thread Milly.

I might even have these on my mehndi, they are such pretty little things.

Re: Cake Pops

The cellophane and ribbon idea is perfect. Here are some pictures for inspiration:

Re: Cake Pops

Firstly, no cake mix because we are British and we don't do box mixes.

Secondly, they seem to be mostly frosting. Gross. Stick with fairy cakes.

Re: Cake Pops

^uff. you’re so proper.

One day I shall make you brownies from Ghirardelli chocolate mix. You wont know what hit you :snooty:.

Re: Cake Pops

I bet RRRrrrR makes cakes without cake mix too! You're just jelly!

Re: Cake Pops

I really do not use cake mixes and I would never. I know how to bake a Victoria sponge. I wouldn't have been invited to the royal wedding if I didnt know how! (My brother uses them though, only M&S ones!).

I think the childrens would love a lollipop cake, they look so pretty and cool. They've probably never had a lollipop cake either, so I would be the best teacher ever!

I guess I need to look for a no frosting recipe. Post me one Stoppits!

If I cannit find one by Sunday, fairy cakes it is!
