fillings i love are...
any flavour instant pudding... it sets well and tastes amazing with cake.
i also like whipped cream and fresh fruit filling.
you can always layer with jam as well if its a light cake.
for fun kids' cakes try marshmallows and chocolate cream... its super decadent but so good!

thanks lusi, but can u plz tell me how to make strawberry cream cheese filling (i mean ingredients and procedure), sounds interesting :)

thanks to u SGC for whipped cream and fresh fruit , u just take wipped cream whip it and add canned fruits :) is there anything else u add into this filling.

Mrs. Smoothguy, what I remember...it was a a layer of strawberry jam/preserve over cream cheese icing and tasted delicious. You can also mix the two and it will taste really good.

i would chop up and add fresh fruit- it doesnt take that long and tastes SO good... canned fruit tastes blah, but thats my opinion :)

the bouquet cake i made, it was a chocolate cake and I got one of those pie filling tins to use in between the two layers. they usually have straberry, blueberry, cherries and pumpkin I thnk. I used strawberry.

its so super easy, nisa! i used the betty crocker bake'n'fill pan and it makes a perfect dome, but wilton also makes a pan that is dome-shaped. you can rent those from bulk barn or other cake supply stores.
then its just a matter of piping on the buttercream. i used cheerios topped with a brown m&m for the eyes.

Thank you girls, I even made those birdies :hula: We finally figured out why the stupid icing has not been turning out perfect, cos they changed the constituency of crisco, removed transfats so it doesn’t blend in well with the sugar any more. She told us to use half a cup of butter and half a cup of crisco for best results though that will give you coloured icing. I don’t mind ivory anyway so next time I will make that icing.

Do you guys learn to do something non-fattening or sugar-free or less sugar in it for the diabetic/dieting ppl??

i don’t think you do in the course, but once you know the basics, sara, you can sub in things like splenda and fresh fillings and low fat creams, etc. for the diabetics.

this is the cake i made for my couins Mikyle’s second birthday yesterday. The monkey cake that i posted earlier was for his first birthday.

Wow SGC, you should go into business. Seriously. If you can start making desi inspired cakes you would rake it in. There's one girl in T.O. who does that and she's got a lot of business ... but I think you may be better than her.
