Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
Where did you get it done?
At a local beauty salon....it is a shop i trust but just not sure if its gona work..i think i should have a few more sessions and see how it goes!!! Apparently it can take about 8 or 9 treatments!!!!
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
Be careful about making sure that place is certified. Caci does work but it the reason it takes longer to work then say Eplight laser is that this is photoepilation and doesnt go very deep. Unless you are getting a good deal, it might work better to try a different option from a professional dermatologist.
Another consideration is the pain threshold. If you can tolerate more pain, they can increase the voltage to go higher but even their highest setting is equivalent to the second or third setting of a proper laser like the Alexanderite drill.
CACI is good for when you dont want potential burn marks (lasers can leave a temporary red mark for 24 hours or more) and when you are prepared to be shaving for several months. The pro is obviously that it is much less painful the con is obviously that it takes much longer and can end up costing more unless you get a great package deal.
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
if it doesn't work, it ain't gonna be good (for your facial hair growth).
shabo i had IPL done for me chin,,i had 5,6 thick hair on my chin due to hormonal imblance,,,i get it treated frist and then went for IPL,,,it did work for me...so far i have gotten 5 treatments....the first 4 i got, were 4,5 weeks apart from each other,,but i got the 5th one after 6 month....i have very fine hair now....u might have to get 8-9 treatment..or mayb more then dat,,or less then dat,,,it all depends on the texture of ur hair....lemme tell u one thing u hair wont go away..but they will become very fine dat they will b hard to see....i like IPL over leaser as its not harmful for desi skin plus in my case i have very sensitive skin...as per leaser,,,,one of my friends is getting her sidebruns and chin done thru leaser....she has good results...no side effects...no skin burn...,,,its really working for her....
shabo one advice for u ,,,dont get IPL done from ANY SHOP,,,go to an aesthetician...aestheticians know the right frequency of the light setting...cuz u dont wanna burn ur skin....and good luck wid ur treatments :-)
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
^exactly for the last bit.
personally i wouldn't touch most IPL with a barge pole. Shua, the best thing for you would have been electrolysis, those hairs would have been gone for GOOD! and with much less money spent.
the common prob with IPL is that people find after a year or two, that the hair comes back with vengeance.
for facial hair: electrolysis first choice, laser second choice
if it's not hurting, it's not working.
Thanks for the advice guys....i was told before i started the treatment that i may need top up treatments after a year or so but this varies for everyone!!!!
Its been 3 weeks since the first treatment and the hair is still pretty fine but will be going for the second time next week...will keep you updated on how it goes!!!!
If theres anyone else who has tried IPL or heard anything about it please let me know!!!
Thanks
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
^ there is a regular guppie who had been doing IPL for two years without a great deal of success although she said the hair did appear finer, she was at a point where not much was happening anymore.
after my advice, she's having laser done at a very trusted clinic in London, she's had two treatments so far and is very happy with the results.
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
im doing it am on 8th session its going well so far, hair is alot finer.
im not sure about hair growing back....depends really, why will hair grow back after 2 years, but yeh she did say that you may need a top up once every 6 months..or a year...and thats not bad....
and when you sya if it doesnt hurt its not working, this isnt excercise love, you rnot working any muscles here. its a treatment right.....and the less painful the better, thats the whole point, if all beauty treatments were excruciatingly painful who would do them...
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
^well if you knew anything about laser you would know that it does hurt and if it's not hurting the settings are too low. IPL is not laser and is not as effective. with laser you shouldn't need top up unless you have some kind of problem that stimulates new follicles, such as hormonal one.
hair will grow back because the follicles are not completely destroyed with IPL, which is the whole reason the hair is only finer with IPL thus far. with laser, if a hair sheds, that follicle has been destroyed. on the face, if a follicle isn't completely destroyed it has the potential of starting to produce much coarser hairs once treatment stops.
having said that, induced growth is also a problem with laser, and any decent clinic will tell you that's a real possibility. which is why i said electrolysis is the first choice for the face.
there are very very few IPL clinics that offer anything near as effective treatment as laser, it's mostly practised by clinics that don't want to spend the big bucks on the lasers.
i've written plenty of posts on this subject in this forum.
instead of attempting to be patronising and opening a million threads here, why don't you go and do some research. and websites from clinics and manufacturers don't count.
Pain free laser? ![]()
I had IPL done for nearly 2 years, ...hair was finer an thts all......:(
I came across stoppits posts an she recommended me to go to a clinic up in London (which is part of a hospitial) they looked at my skin an told me which laser to go for(im using long ND:YAG), I have had 3 treatments so far and am very happy with the results.......only downfall is im breaking out in spots, an thts becoz (as the nurse explained to me) the hair follicle which had blocked the pore has been removed so the pore will open up an cause the breakouts. Apart from tht an the pain its all going well :D
I noticed its mostly small salons who use the IPL machines, who brag them up saying it's suited for all skin types, in the end the results will only be finer hair.......(well thts what happened in my case:()
thread starter or anyone else who is interested in laser I suggest you go to a legit clinic and have a consultation done with them an then go from there.....
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
well i am also thinking to do laser treatment to remove hair....but i dont have any idea wat kind of lasers we have and which one is safe and best result ......can someone please help
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
^well thts the thing one laser is not tailored for all skin types.....u need to go to a clinic (preferably where they have a few laser machines) an have a consultation......
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
Well, I thought I may as well add my two pence! I had IPL done last year (aculite), and after 6 treatments it was ineffective. With IPL you may need up to 20 if not more treatments, and even then it may not be a guarantee to remove all the hair.
There is a difference between IPL and laser, and yes, laser is more painful, because of the high settings that are being used.
I am currently considering Laser (currently my sis is going through it using cynosure machine - she has had 3 sessions but I can only comment once all her treatments are over).
The salon she is having it done is a reputable salon in my city and the practioner has 10 years experience with lasers/IPL machines. She used to use an IPL machine but said it was not very effective - to the extent that she calls it the "flashbulb!" when refering to it.
The reason why most salons use IPL is simply because they are cheaper to buy. The practioner at my salon said she had been (quote) "fighting" to get this new laser machine for 3 years, and at 50,000 she says, it's been a worthy investment.
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
sweet_girl, let me find some of my old posts.
if you are asian (even if you are fair) you will be Fitzpatrick Skin Type IV minimum, which means you will need an Nd:Yag laser.
Colourful_Eyes is being treated with a Polaris machine using Nd:Yag.
I've finished treatments on my underarms and going through legs and bikini at the moment and being treated with an Apogee Elite with has both an Alexandrite Laser and an Nd:Yag made by Cynosure.
You should look for a clinic with one of the above. If you tell me where you live I can help you out.
I would highly recommend Laser for any areas with thicker, darker hair, such as those I'm having treated. But be wary of treating your face, there are plenty of side-effects and if the hair is not bad, it may be worse for you.
Epilight is best for our skin tones...I've been hair free (as free as possible) for 5 years. I go for one maintenance treatment a year. CACI etc lasers are too weak..
Re: CACI IPL Laser hair removal???
I hope I am not derailing this thread by asking the following question but can anyone provide costs and comparisons for the two types?
How much are people paying for CACI type laser and which area and again how much for laser and which area?

it really varies. i don't know about CACI but the IPL that I know to work can cost more than laser per treatment and even if not, definitely more in the long run.
people that i know that have had laser are done in about 5-6 treatments for something like underarms, and about 1.5 years worth of treatments for face.
I know less people that have had success with IPL and they were going to treatments continuously for 2 years or more.
p.s. the only IPL that someone I know has used and claims it worked is Ellipse I2PL
p.p.s coarse hair body areas are much better and more quickly treated with laser. i don't know why anyone would bother with IPL unless the pain really is an issue (on those areas)
