so should we start packing for the concentration camps.
Let the whining begin...
Whining or concern Ohioguy? Even you just said that Bush is going to try and push his conservative agenda, doesn't it concern you that the country shifting to the far right is dangerous?
dems should better get good at writing concession speeches…i have a feeling they’d be doing this for some time to come ![]()
First of all, my head hurts.
Second, Bush won on the backs of the Christian vote, there is simply no other way to describe the massive turnout. One in four Ohioan voters call themselves born-again and their support of Bush was near 100%.
When W came into office four years ago, many hoped he would lead a moderate agenda. Karl Rove, his political advisor, felt that by governing from the far right, he could motivate his base to turnout and win on their support. He was right. 9/11 was an excuse to turn America into a more conservative society than it actually is.
Now the "L" word will come into play (Legacy that is). Bush will work on making a legacy in the next four years. Hopefully that will mean a more moderate stance and moving back to the middle. In reality, "you dance with one that brought ya." Bush will drive a very conservative agenda forward, beginning with a ban on gay marriage and including off-shore drilling in Alaska, decreasing civil liberties, bringing in extremely conservative judges, perhaps overturning Roe v. Wade and beginning another war or two. You can also count on a record deficit to continue to grow since no tax cuts are forthcoming. Don't laugh: the Republicans now dominate the White House, the House, the Senate and hold the majority of governorships in this nation. And he finally has the mandate he so dearly wanted by winning the popular vote.
The Democrats must be stunned. Kerry simply did everything right. His only flaw was that he was not from the South and did not carry a single southern state.
I think life will change very little for those of us who live in America. However, for those who live in the world, things will change a lot. America will continue to be isolated and unilateral. Its borders will have higher fences. Twenty years from now, America will be a worse off place, because of the unaffordable wars, lack of brain and talent from overseas, lack of investment from foreign investors, a burgeoning debt burden that will be held by the Chinese and Japanese and because of outsourcing. America will get what it deserves by bringing Bush back for four more years.
The optimist in me says that perhaps Bush will be like his father and force Israel to stop settlements and bring peace to that region. However, his base is antagonistically anti-Palestine and anti-Muslim.
Good news for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia though.
US, atleast south, is a conservative christian country (even though it might have been founded as a secular state). With dems and their liberal agenda there is no way they can win the South. AFter conceding the south, dems are left withj very little room to move. Dems need to carry atleast a part of the South. I'm watching CNN right now, and they are saying that exit polls indicate that one of the top crietria for voting was moral values. So these issues of gay marriage & stem cell research might have hurt dem more than they would have anticipated.
now what?
now Busharraf aur Jamali will “mil k bhangra paa”
Musharraf —> :bhangra: :bhangra: <— Jamali
** How SWEEEEET it is !!!! **
For all the talk about a divided electorate, the result was pretty definitive.
First President since his father to capture a clear majority of the popular vote.
Wins by 3 - 4 million votes.
No states as close as the last election.
GOP gains 4 seats in the Senate.
GOP gains (how many) seats in House.
James Carville admits that the DEMs were whipped and that the DEM party needs to do some serious rethinking (this was PRICELESS) .
BIG LOSER: Mainstream liberal media who tried to fix this election even on election day by leaking the seriously flawed early exit polls which predicted a Kerry landslide.
I'm sure that all these issues will be fleshed out in more detail. Right now...I need some coffee and some Tylenol.
Myvoice it's clear you haven't been sober for the last 4 years, why start now? Massive twin deficits, failure in Iraq, a loose Bin Laden, wavering allies, and a divided nation. Cheers.

As I said, based upon the voice of the American people, the nation appears far less divided today than it was four years ago following 8 years of the Clinton administration. You, my friend, are clearly part of the minority. The people have spoken. Accept it and move on. If Carville and Kerry can do it, you can too.

Ahh still drinking I see myvoice, everything is just peachy fine on the farm right. As I said good luck I hope for the best. If I seem pessimistic I think it’s rather understandable, but really don't sober up on my account, after all I'm in the minority.

filibuster
What will be used extensively during the next 4 years to shutdown Bush if he doesn't cooperate.
Awww, poor UTD, do you need a hug?
4 more years of incompetency!!!
This president has hurt america more than the attacks that occured on 911, and its only going to get worse.
Backlash against muslims will continue to grow courtesy of Patriot Act II. It could reach levels as seen in germany where millions were brainwashed to carry out a genocide.
I would suggest all sane americans to pack their bags and head north to canada as the future doesnt look pretty for america.
Let me stereotype here: I always had thought Americans had more brains than they show, but this very election has proved me wrong!!!
God Bless you GUYZ!

Pretty definitve!??!? Ppl still say it was a very close game....
Hopefully Bush will now govern from a more moderate position since he doesn't have to appease the Christian fundo facists to get re-elected. He will want to build a legacy and that will require him to become the Uniter, not the Divider as he promised earlier. My great hope is that he fires the facists from his administration. My great fear is a Christian fundo facist Supreme Court. Hopefully the Dems will prevent more Scalias and Thomases from being nominated that will legislate their version of morality from the bench.
The good news is that Bush is going to be responsible for the mess he has made. If Kerry won they would have ripped a new one, blaming him for not making progress in the quagmire Bush put us in. The Hannities, Limbaughs and O'Reilly's and who they represent have so much self righteous hate in them that they would have fought for another Monica-gate/Whitewater-gate from day one.
Maybe Bush will reach out to the 1/2 of the country who feel alienated and fear him as well as to the rest of the world. The arrogant cowboy routine won't work for another 4 years. We'll see. He's my president and I am going to give him the chance to prove himself over the next several months.
Look at the difference here. Check out the number of EV reduced in northern states like WI, MI, PN, NY, IN, IL, OH, CT, NC and NJ.
On the other hand there are significant increase in the southern states like FL, TX, AR, NV, GA, OK and CA. This shows a trend of population moving towards south.
