Bush Takes Responsibility for Blunders By LARA JAKES JORDAN,
WASHINGTON - President Bush said Tuesday that “I take responsibility” for failures in dealing with Hurricane Katrina and said the disaster raised broader questions about the government’s ability to respond to natural disasters as well as terror attacks.
“Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government,” Bush said at joint White House news conference with the president of Iraq.

This is the first thing ever he has taken responisbility for. Ever. Either Karl Rove is dead or this is so huge that Bush is finally in deep doo-doo where he belongs.

It is an excellent strategy by Rove to make Bush the fall guy (since he cant run for another term) and save the '06 election for republicans. If i were running for office, i would put as much distance as possible from Dubya.

His approval rating is at 39% what else can he do? While myvoice and TabbyWabby think Bush is a great leader and doing a great job more or more Americans have taken their heads out of their ass's. This administration has exposed themselves time and time again.

ok.. can we revisit all those accusations of the State and local governments being primarily responsible for all of this.... poor conservative shills have been crying hoarse for three days now trying to reverse the damage by pointing fingers at Nagin, Kathleen B, Black folks.. God, and now this!

He didn't give a clean bill of health to local and state. Even the apology was vetted by legal counsel to withstand possible legal battles in days to come.

A report coming out is going to show that the State took the proper steps in requesting Federal assistance but the Feds dropped the ball hence the acknowledgment by Bush today.
