Men's obsession with niqab and hijab and women. lol
Why don't we see any woman posting in this thread(except me of course)?
Why do men have to decide what a woman can wear and what not?
Sure enough ----- I myself believe that Burqa and Niqab are signs of backward mentality and consider them unnecessary as long as women are respectably dressed ----- however in Europe ----- things as benign as Burqa and Niqab are erroneously taken way out of proportion and ambiguously considered signs of oppression and psychological leanings of an individual or a group toward political and or radical Islam ----- hence a would-be terrorist is likely to be shrouded or VEILED ----- within such group.
I have been fighting for woman's rights in this forum with the help of only one male member. My views ----- to leave it up to the women to decide how to conduct themselves and what to wear were probably widely misunderstood.
Violence against women is tolerated in the name of tradition all over the world. Woman's oppression is universal. Those who want to help address this sorry state of affairs should start not by telling Muslim women how to dress, but by tackling the root causes of this oppression both at home and abroad: discrimination, lack of access to services, and unequal economic opportunities.
Nuff said!
