The concept of nonbelievers is present in every major religion of the world ----- in Islam it is often referred to as “Kaffirs” ----- in Christianity it is known as “infidels” ----- in Hinduism they are called “Harijans” ----- and in Sikhism they are clearly known as “Vedeens”.
Nuff said!
harijan was the word used by Gandhi against untouchability in modern india.
hari means "God" and jan means "people". harijan means people of God. it does not mean faithless.
Gandhi propagated this word among upper class indian to be used against the word achoot.
