Burka Ban

Ductch are considering banning burkas in public and are voting on it in 5 days.

Just heard of this on the news. I think it’s horrible..i mean nowadays it seems that there are more and more people doing anti-islamic actions. Like first in germany they banned teachers wearing head scarves. And now the netherlands doing this…it’s just outrageous

so what do you think???

Re: Burka Ban

soon they’d ban islam in all countries…:k:…perfect solution…:halo:

Re: Burka Ban

It could be worse. I think they want to get rid of the more fundamentalist people in the population. So, if you want to wear a veil, etc, then you probably should not live in these countries.

By the way, what is the difference between this, and how when you travel to certain areas in Balochistan and NWFP, and you're asked to cover or else leave?

Re: Burka Ban

^^ dont think you have to cover in NWFP or Balochistan..

But yeah, the Dutch dont like their extremists.

Re: Burka Ban

I hate the dutch so much...free country my ass, they dont like how someone dresses and they ban it, what a bunch of assholes, i hope they get attacked, which will prolly happen in the near future seeing their anti-muslim ways. How do you frikkin think a peace of cloth is extreme? They'd rather have naked people running around, rather than someone covering their bodies, how moral they are. How is it extreme, anything you dont like is extreme? Can they prove Burka makes women become terrorists or encourages terrorists for sum reason? Even if it is extreme if it doesn't affect anyone that why does it even matter? People think regular muslims r extreme cuz we well most of us pray 5 times a day and wash 5 times a day, lets ban Islam altogether. All you seculars i mean enough is enough, i know u dont mind people attacking the part of Islam you dont like but i mean dont people have rights to practice their religion how they see fit?

Re: Burka Ban

All dutch nationals when abroad, must be made to not only cover thier faces, body, hands, feet etc, but completely thier eyes too. Also all trade must be stopped with them, so that they may learn the hard way Insha'ALLAH of how to respect someone different.

Re: Burka Ban

That is called oppression, being forced to remove Burka is liberation.

Re: Burka Ban

I agree 100%!!!

Re: Burka Ban

Its not bout piece of cloth, its bout identity. Its the intolerance towards another culture.

Re: Burka Ban

the dutch are losing their culture..i mean on the news they were talking about how it's all about the youth today..and how all the morals and values are gone..and i must say i agree with that..all i'm saying is that..the europeans are picking on Islam..as if it's some sort of sin to be a muslim

Re: Burka Ban

and no you dont have to cover up..some people choose to cover up to show respect towards the religion..and unlike those people i guess the Dutch dont believe in respecting religion but more in seeing a persons face...because it's "common sense"...that is just so idiotic

Re: Burka Ban

Bibijee, ai kere naal kitta tussi.. ? ai ki pagalaan aali gal kardey nay tussi :halo: ? where did you get this information from? Some folks like to spread rumors just like dat.. NWFP and Balochistan are lovely ppl.. women must be covered in hijaab and I think it looks beuautiful mashallah

Re: Burka Ban

^i believe she's talking about the villages...if so..then yes she is right..i myself am from a village in peshawar..and over there ..you have to cover your whole body..like a burka...not just wear a hijab

Re: Burka Ban

^^ No you don't..Individual families might all cover in villages, but it's by no means everyone in the villages.

Re: Burka Ban

The Dutch have had their fair share of trouble with extremists I guess, and the culture of covering up head to toe is at directly opposite poles to their own culture, where women can walk around skimpily dressed. I guess they want people to gel in more with society..whether it's right or wrong..they don't want people seperated based on religious identity..

Re: Burka Ban

It might be slightly different now, but when my aunt lived in Quetta some years ago, she was out and about without wearing a dupatta on her head. She was approached by some people in her area who told her that they understand she's not used to their ways, but if she wants to keep leaving her house, then she needs to cover up. She would wear a full chaddar, not a burqa. Sort of irani style.

She said it was pretty standard to cover up in Quetta at the time, and that the people of the city didn't take it well when someone walked out in just a shalwaar kameez without a dupatta on their head, even if the dupatta was draped across the chest.

And that was the city of Quetta. Not even a village.

Re: Burka Ban

how exactly is a burka a part of Islam?

You people need to read up on Islam before commenting on such matters....

Burka is not a part of Islam, never was and never will be...

It was a Persian Custom for rich Persians to hide their faces from lower class people and when Arabs conquered Persia it was adopted into their dress code...

Re: Burka Ban

So? Your point is? Are you defending the views of the Dutch government? I was thinking Denmark was a free land where all cultures/religions are respected. Guess not eh? Btw, try to tackle the topic at hand: banning burka in Denmark.

Re: Burka Ban

First of all Dutch people are from Holland not Denmark :halo:

Secondly, if the Dutch are going to ban the Burka, then all power to them. It was not a part of Islam then I have no greviance over it. If the Dutch moved to ban Praying in Holland or anything related to Islam, then I will be totally incensed. But the Hijab, Burka is not a part of Islam so I have no quams over it.

And realistically speaking, these things were adorned in a time when there was no central government, no protection of women, no police or central military to guard borders or protect civil rights, etc…

But time changes and as such, the basic principles of Islam must be kept but the way we involve Islam in our daily lives has to change and cannot remain the Archaic way of 6th Centry Arabia implemented to 21st Century Europe.

I think it has come to a point where these tribalistic traditions cannot exist in modern western societies and as such I fully support the Dutch government banning the Burka.

Re: Burka Ban

my bad- netherlands. happy. i hate denmark too with their immigration policies.

What I was saying is, if you let the women walk in bikinis then why not let women dress in burkas?
