Bunto Kazmi's Designs

Does anyone have pics of Bunto Kazmi’s clothes and designs? A friend of mine got married in Pakistan but I didn’t get to see her dress that Ms. Kazmi made for her.. and I am really curious because her dresses are known to be stunning.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

i've posted these pics here before, but here you go again :)

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

^that's my color right there, sgc! ;) -- do you approve?

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

fyi, that shocking pink trim was bunto's own suggestion to my friend, who was a bit wary of it, but honestly, it was the "shaan" of the gharara... it made it unique and it looked so beautiful, even though it sounded completely paindu when i first heard it :p

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

She really caters to the bride while making quality stuff. I've seen two very different designs by her -- both gorgeous.

No photos though :(

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

is bunto african?
I still recall the zulu and bunto wars that went on a few decades back..were pretty vicious.
maybe Bunto Kazmi moved in that time.

wonder if there are any zulus here.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

I have heard ALOT about Bunto Kazmi...Infact she is considered the/one of the pioneers of our Fashion Industry but the pix posted here disappoint me. I wouldn't call this best of Pakistani fashion at any time...but i am sure this wasnt her best work either. And ya pls no offence to you guys who posted these images...i am just giving my honest opinion.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

^ The pictures I posted are at least 10 years old and her more recent work would set her apart. However you've got to remember that she caters to a certain niche for brides who are seeking a more regal and ethnic look for their wedding. Sure she's not like the HSY's and Karma's out there, but she still has the ability to surprise you even now...

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

Hey i did read your post so i do know that those designs were old. I was talkin more about the ones somegroovychick posted. And mind you, regal and ethnic is done by Nilofar shahid too and it luks super so its not that i have anything against traditional look. It's just that these dresses posted are very typical and there is nothin different in them and you can get these even from shops such as "Think Pink", "Zardosi", etc...which are not run by professional designers. SO when one sees stuff buy such high standard designers one does look for some unique element which i personally didn't see in her work. But like i said again, i refuse to believe this is all that she is capable of cuz i do know that one can be just lucky and become famous but she is some1 who has maintained her position so there ought to be more to her work.

I am going to try and look up for her work online or even see if i can get a magazine with her latest work. Would luv to share it with every1 here :).

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

I can see what you are saying...they come across a little typical in the pictures as they did to me initially. However, when you see the workmanship up close, it's completely a different story. The type of stitching and kaam on her heavier bridal pieces is very delicate and particular to the darzi's that work for her...they are very old school.

I had also heard so much about her and refused to believe her skills as a designer of exceptional quality, but there is definitely something more unique to her work and . I guess most designers have a unique look, but her work is truly ethnic if that is what you are looking for. I can understand your point about Nilofer Shahid and that her outfits have a regal and ethnic look allbeit with a contemporary twist. It's just that a lot of Bunto's designs employ very old techniques, which other's can't replicate and may not suit everone's pallette.

I've actually tried looking for her designs on the web but I couldn't find any. If you do find some then please definitely post them... :)

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

love her designs .. she traditional but beautifuly modern

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

i wanted to say the samething..but i guess i didnt because i didnt want to be rude..but since you've already said it..i agree with u..they look very average..maybe its because they are old...i dont know..but the colors are too bold..and the kaam..is just simple kaam..i no like..

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

Like I said, she really caters to the bride and what she wants. The two I've seen, each were filled with remarkably delicate kaam that was breathtaking in public. No photograph could do them justice.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

i wl do that, definately :).

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

as said before, and with all designers, it really depends on your budget and what you want, and bunto is not cheap... these outfits were beautiful in person and i think the quality of pics doesn't do them justice... i don't have the pro ones, unfortunately. also, like sahar said, you cant see the fineness and the quality of the kaam cos the pics aren't big enough.
re: the colors being "too bold", both brides chose their colors and bunto did all the kaam/designing, so really its a matter of personal preference... i know wouldn't wear that shade of red or copper cos i couldn't pull them off but i think my friends looked good.
both these weddings took place in 2005 so they're not that old.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

omg soooooooooo paindo.. im sure its better in real life? but its BAD id have to be paid ALOT to wear that =X

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

How are they paindu?!?

Obviously, Bunto Kazmi's style is very different from Deepak Perwani's or HSY's. She uses handloom silks and brocades, with some of the most intricate embroidery available...you won't find any cheap plastic sequins on her work. Her designs aren't meant to be cutting edge...they're supposed to be very old world glamorous, with very traditional cuts and embroidery styles. One poster tried to compare to Nilofer Shahid...but you need to keep in mind that while Meeras does use traditional embroidery, their cuts are generally very modern, and you really can't compare the two. Faiza Samee, I think, would be a more apt comparison...

Obviously, if you're taste is bollywood-inspired fusion, then you aren't going to fully appreciate her work. But it's still neither cheap looking, nor brash...so I hardly think you can call it paindu.

Re: Bunto Kazmi's Designs

she is bringing REGAL/traditional looks back making them sewn perfectly and fall SO GRACEFULLY. she isn't trying to be modern hip edgie she is just bringing back the roots of what was gorgeous at one time and making it look a bit more refined/elegant. gosh i love the traditional look for the shaadi day!
