I was on phone with a mid ranking army officer who is my relative.

He revealed that many soldiers refuse to report to duty when transferred to troubled area in the north and those already stationed in north west are fleeing and they spread rumors that they have been abducted by talibans.

The abduction by taliban rumor strategy is very popular among army jawaans and its has become their ticket out of the region

A Sobedar from our village was transferred to swat…he came home on vacations, sent his written resignation ( which uptill now has not been accepted ) and escaped to dubai .
