Buner falls to Swat Taliban

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

100% right. They are taking over at an alarming pace. I think the government, army and society have just decided that Taliban are unstoppable and thus arent fighting back.

For decades Army has taken huge share of national wealth, obviously unjustly as they are incapable of securing Pakistan from threats such as the Taliban.

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

U r absolutely right. Our army should at least learn from Sri Lankan army who have been fighting since long against tamils and at least trying to protect their public and country and now they r nearly victorious. While our army currently is just a spectator. What they have achieved in the past, see a list: lost kashmir to india, lost east pakistan to india, lost siachen to india, returned from kargil and now losing against militants also. May God help our country in these times.

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

Like I had mentioned before, the army soldiers will be beheaded by qazi courts for fighting against islam. This is what the swat deal allows for.

Hello Kid,

who the heck are you to question my pakistaniat.
here is what i say if army is sincere and if i am called i would be more than willing leave my business, family and to serve them in swat or waziristan i just have one condition they promise the nation they would take it to the end.
i am no coward who just whine and does nothing.

this reporter should be put on trial, i mean this is no way to disgrace someone, this is war and their would be abductions.

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

The reporter also has to worry about his life, which is why he has to act as an interrogator rather then a journalist. It's still amazing that in pakistan, the army soldiers are the ones who are hiding and have to explain why they are in their own country, while the terrorists are the ones who are the authority.

Amazing.

then it should not have been telecated, irony kese kese din dekhne par rahe hein.

reminds me of american captives in iraq shown on aljazeera tv..

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

More such videos will come as the taliban advance and media are also forced to censor themselves in favor of the talibs.

it is very wrong concept of yours, punjab and sindh can be easily captured by talibans than NWFP and Balochisstan.....and remember talibans are not cowards, they are more tough and dangerous than your expectation...

now if you mean because they come from martial race pathans then i guess you are wrong.

based on my assesment there are reasons for agression in certain races as a whole as there are reasons for certain race not to be aggresive..
reason pathans are more agresive is because over the histroy they had nothing and nothing to loose also as they lived in rugged areas so when they fought they fought with agression.
whereas other races were well off they had everything and before doing any folly they had to think twice..

now there are many areas in rural pakistan specially rural sindh which are no go areas and you can find similar weapon taliban thugs carrying and in those areas even a 7-8 yar old carrys a AK47, because of tribal feuds and each village is armed to teeth .
if somebody says talibs can conquer them not at all many of those people are in that state for decades attacking each others and defending...
you dont hear them in news because they dont harm ordinary people or slit throats or put their writ on other communities around.

also when you talk about sindh and punjab these areas are plains not mountains where they can hide their backs..

now coming to me i know the culture very well i had been to mohmand and i know for sure how to intimidate them, how to make them understand you.

if i am an educated guy doesnt mean i am soft, i can be as ruthless when in fight or if that came to that point... personally i had kept myself ready for these kinds of situation as no matter how prosper educated we bcome after all we live in a tribal and fedual culture where criminals roam around freely..
if its not mortal threat i can be as soft as leaf no need to be reactionary but if its mortal then buddy either i or they...

I was on phone with a mid ranking army officer who is my relative.

He revealed that many soldiers refuse to report to duty when transferred to troubled area in the north and those already stationed in north west are fleeing and they spread rumors that they have been abducted by talibans.

The abduction by taliban rumor strategy is very popular among army jawaans and its has become their ticket out of the region

A Sobedar from our village was transferred to swat...he came home on vacations, sent his written resignation ( which uptill now has not been accepted ) and escaped to dubai .

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

The deep questioning about why the Pakistani Army should fight the Taliban reaches well down into the ranks of the soldiers and their families. Dissent on that goal has become increasingly prevalent among rank-and-file soldiers, and even in the officer corps, said Riffat Hussain, a professor of international relations at Quaid-i-Azam University here who also lectures to soldiers at the National Defense University.
There have been at least a half-dozen reported courts-martial of soldiers who refused to fight, and the real number was probably larger

^ rumour mill :chai:

Already posted… old news :chai:

I see so, NYTIMES is spreading rumors too?

Re: Buner falls to Swat Taliban

A more recent news item on how public opinion has markedly changed.

Inshallah the 6 court marshalls the nytimes article mentioned wont increase much. Though like the nytimes, foreign observers worry about Pakistan’s resolve, the article notes several Pakistani experts saying that mood is changing:

“There was a certain kind of a tipping point after the so-called Swat Accord. It was when the Swat Taliban were seen to be overreaching themselves,” MNA and columnist Ayaz Amir has told the Voice of America.

“One or two speeches by Sufi Muhammad that democracy is un-Islamic, the courts are outside the pale of Islam – that, and the advance of the Taliban into Buner.”

Public opinion: Lt-Gen (r) Ali Jan Muhammad Orakzai, a former NWFP governor, says public opinion has decidedly shifted against the Taliban.

“There has been a complete change in the attitude of the entire nation towards these people. … And the Pakistani nation stands united in defeating their designs because nobody in Pakistan would like these people to take over and establish their version of Islam or impose their version of Islam on the people. There’s quite a sudden change in the mood of the nation.”

See my remark about that, you are trying to pass old news as new item. When anyone goes "I heard, he said, she said" to me its just rumor mill.

I dont like it..we dont like lets close our eyes…Lets hide our face in sand…we dont see it so its not there. Out of sight out of mind…I wont see what I don’t like. I call it an Ostrich’s Approach.:snooty:

That’s a surprisingly small number, considering the moral dilemma that has been created by the right wingers in the media and politics.

Will this be like the time when your ISI inside sources told you that the army is burning swat schools and you ran away when someone posted taliban statements saying they are the ones burning schools? :hehe:

And didn’t you once claim you used to be a captain in the army?
