Brutal and Melodic

My musician son who plays “Death Metal” totally rocks. I love listening to him. He is so entertaining, I never get bored, although some times he doesn’t shut up. Last night we were driving back from his band practice and I asked him to explain the difference between Black Metal and Death Metal. Here’s how he tells me:

  • Black Metal is melodic, and Death Metal is Brutal. The vocals are all very very very LOW (almost like screaming on top of your lungs in the lowest note)…. Then he goes on and on and on and on and on about the underground scene in Europe, and for some reason Sweden is the place for his genre of Music. He listens to Swedish bands, and wants to go there next summer. Yeah sure.

I think any kind of music is good, but this type I cant stand. Some of the bands he listens to are: “Deicide” (meaning to Kill the God), and “Hate Eternal”, and some other. (Whatever happened to Metallica and Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden???)

Funny thing is that he thinks that’s what he wants to do when he grows up… play guitar in a Death Metal band. He tells me he has made up his mind as he has been doing it for ‘one’ year.

This is the same guy who once thought being cub scout was the coolest thing ever.

Son of a *****.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Look man, I have told you once, I have told you a thousand times, "Chicks like to Dance"

Your son needs to spend some time with me. He needs to get away from death metal asap.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Metallica and Iron Maiden rock. I haven't heard any new metal though.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Madhanee get with the times Metallica, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden are considered classic rock now.
Listen to Disturbed, Rage of Machines etc. Now that is the music that rocks.
OH and one more thing BoneyM is not rock it's disco.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Verizon Uncle, have you ever seen fashionistas at a Death Metal concert? But you will see them with me tomorrow evening.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Rage of Machines? You're not talking about Rage against the Machine are you? Cuz I haven't heard of that. But Disturbed is pretty good.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Sorry thats what I meant. I had a boot legged copy and the fcuker erased "against". Thanks forthe correction.

Re: Brutal and Melodic

Yea, RATM was great. IMO they were the only successful rock/metal band to fuse rap into their music. What do you think of their new creation called Audioslave?

Re: Brutal and Melodic

how old is your son? this heavey metal thing won't last, i wouldnt worry about it, hes just keeping his options open, you need to be prepared for the whole "daddy i wish to be a ballet dancer" kind of thing.
