Britney wants to embrace Islam

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Everything you are accusing people of is based on your own extrapolations of what they said. Get a grip of yourself.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Folks, kindly wait till you hear more about this story being true...

The following is not related to Britney since I will not (and should not) talk about this deal till the "news" is validated.

About passing judgement and not: A person has to know what Islam is before he/she can become muslim... by taking things to the point of whether one should say the Shahadah or not (before any exploration) does not make sense. Do you really dive into a body of water before finding out the depth, flow or temperature etc.?

The Shahadah is an affirmation of a covenant you make with God. It requires that you explore the system (atleast to a theoretical point), and see the value in it before you decide to be part of it in terms of applying it in daily life and becoming part of a system.

If anythying, a person who does not do the above is him/herself judgemental, and not those who try to point out that making a "causal" shahadah does not signifiy a covenant, but rather signifies being unserious about the whole thing thereby reducing it to a game of identity crisis.

Islam is not about being "politically correct". It is what it is...

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Any way, all this is just much ado 'bout nothing.

She has a right to live the way she likes.

Her bf has. A right to live his way.

She is obviously very unhappy with her ciurrent sitiuation and hopes things will improve if she marries this guy and convert.

Anyone with an ounce of humanity in them and who knows the recent terrible things that have happened to her would exercise some pity and pray for her to achieve some peace and happiness.

Instead of doing that, you guys are trying to 'protect' islam from her. That only shows how little YOU think of islam. Good to know. Sad though.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Because Muslims unfortunately have an inferiority complex

when they see white people convert to Islam, that legitimize Islam and makes them happy

look, Islam is right because white people are converting to Islam

Anyways, Muslims have always been looking for their White Islamic Saviour

When Neil Armstrong (1st man on the moon) went to Egypt, he heard the Azan (call to prayer) and liked the sound of it

Rumour spread that he heard this sound while he was on the moon and on the moon he converted to Islam

So its this kind of nonsense which really annoys me

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

It's just strange to say someone is foreign to a religion. It implies that Islam is culturally based where the ideal Muslim is dark skinned and preferably Arab.

Obviously she does not currently follow any belief system that calls for modesty, humility, charity and chastity - but I would hesitant to say everything abuot here is foreign to a belief system that does call for those characteristics. Her behavior, yes. But not her.

Besides, when we are talking about Islam (except for those who are not considered *real *Muslims), it's all literal.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

For Tarik and M2K, personally I think one has to first learn to be a good humanbeing, or at least see the value in it. I have to make that very clear.

If someone thinks that be "becoming" "muslim" all their problems will vanish away is a childish thought. If you disagree, let me know.

When I say muslim, I mean someone who has seen the value and is serious in becoming part of the system prescribed in the Quran, not someone who would merely like to call him/herself a muslim while being selfish, untrustworthy, bigoted and indecent. There are many of that kind already... one more will make no difference for worse, and if that is what one wants to be, then sure they end up wasting their own time: They'd rather be doing something more productive (but yes it is their choice and their deed).

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Oh!!!! People. Alright how about Aloof or if you could suggest a better word.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

JAK. Exactly, people especially some in this thread, think Shahada is the first step into Islam and fashionally it has been made so by many. I think the reason for seeking Islam is of utmost importance and the person should explore what it is they seek out of religion before they start calling themselves an adherent of it.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Totally agree with your stance.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

I doubt if Britney is reverting to Islam. And even if it is true, in Islam, everyone is welcome. Masha Allah… khush amdeed. May everyone become a muslim. More the better. May all muslims have multiple kids. Alhamdollilah.

On a related note, on Sunday, Britney Spears went into a fashion shop with her beau - Adnan Ghalib. In between changing clothes, she came out completely naked (oops). There is a possibility she may be pregnant again (makes you wonder why there is a license requirement for driving cars or to get married, but no license requirement for having babies). You can’t trust **Fox news **](http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,323271,00.html)completely, but, as the saying goes, where there is smoke, there is fire.

Wallah o Aalim. Lets save our energies for now.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

This is all fine to tell someone who is thinking to convert. But this doesn't mean you have a right to BLOCK someone from converting, nor is it appropriate to talk about someone's conversion as being false when you don't know the reality of things. Simple.

Dave Chapelle converted to Islam years ago, and he's been doing comedy shows with full cursing and inappropriate sexual jokes - I don't see anything ag/him.

Rumors of a possibly child molestor Michael Jackson converting to Islam, and there were nothing but Mashallah's all around.

Akon, an American-Senegalese rapper is muslim AND practices polygamy IN the United States and when you hear his interviews, he knows nearly nothing about polygamy or Islam. Where are the 10-mile threads on him??

Face it, its a situation of sheer discrimination. She's 1. a woman; 2. a woman with a "bad" reputation in the eyes of conservative muslims around the world.

Therefore she can't POSSIBLY be serious about converting to anything.

Faisal's article posted above shows there are some SERIOUS mental issues at work in this woman, and I for one, someone who never gave a damn about her work, is hoping that she gets better. From one human to another.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Add this to the long list of illustrious converts along with Mike Tyson...:D

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

PCG please be attentive:

First off, I was not talking about Britney. I have made that clear…

I used to be a musician myself; created house, trance, rock, metal you name it, and I created it because I think it served a purpose (I created music using opensource and freeware apps and wanted to make a statement that one has to use creativity: Commercialism is not the only way to create something nice).

I stopped composing music not because I think that music is bad thing, but because I enjoy reading and interpreting the Quran, and through this I can serve humanity even more (but that’s just me). Granted that I always had been a “muslim” but my “change” brought be no “Mashallahs”… and I am not expecting any

Secondly, not blocking either… read post #86 http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showpost.php?p=5607785&postcount=86

My thinking is that I must voice my opinion about what a covenent is, and why and how a convenant is to be undertaken. It is not an Arabic incantation that is magical in nature.

I personally know of a guy who used to do drugs and sell them too. And now, I consider him among the most brilliant and selfless people around, in fact, he has corrected me on many Quranic verses. In many ways, he has been an inspiration but he did not wake up one day and said, “I’ll be muslim”: It was a lenghty process that took him years. So I am not ruling out that people can (and do) change.

Third, a majnoon person is exempt from the covenant since he/she is not able to comprehend it’s value. This does not mean I am discriminating against people with special mental needs. It is a fact: Just like they cannot be court witnesses… Can Britney be a court witness?

Speaking of Britney, here are some other comments by non-muslims:

Finally, why are you dragging gender into this? In which post of mine did you see (or have ever seen) gender bias? And from what I have noticed on this thread, I think other examples would have had similar responses. I think you are looking too much into the gender thing in this case.

PS: You make “conversion” sound like someone has to sire a new muslim (like a vampire) or that conversion is like saving an MS Word file as a TXT file.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Britney this, britney that. ...she's like a frickin plague.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Peace PyariCgudia

Absolutely no one has called for this here ... you are presenting red-herrings ... my posts were more aimed at the Muslims than her.

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Peace PyariCgudia

Please read post number 70 item number 6) and you will see exactly why I write what I write ... My whole argument is geared around protecting the image of Islam by minimising the risk of converting out of Islam once inside it due to ignorant conversion to Islam in the first place and also it is based around a sense of responsibility on the Muslims NOT to condemn such people for converting out of Islam if they didn't do their best to give the true Islamic information upfront before hearing the Shahadah off someone.

Please bhain "reasonable" banno ...

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

Peace Rocking vibes

I don't think you get it ... And neither does PyariCgudia

When a person converts into Islam their sins are forgiven ... they are like babies again. There is no way that an 'alim can rightfully begin to start issuing fatawas of punishment against Britney should she decide to convert to Islam. There is NO way that I have been implying that from the beginning ... rather people wanted to understand that from my posts and have found themselves on the wrong footing.

I have been arguing for the concept that should she become Muslims and then convert back out then according to correct injunctions of "freedom of religion" she may do so as long as she does not do it with an intent to damage Islam, or else that would be treason and that is punishable. However, even if some damage is done to Islam it may not entirely be her fault .... cue ... the Muslims should ensure she knows what she is getting herself into in the first place.

Hypothetically that is ... that the article is true!

Re: Britney wants to embrace Islam

We shall discuss the topic further if we hear about some development in this regard

Have a nice day
