Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any tricks/methods to bring on labour?

Im 37 weeks pregnant and have not had a decent nights sleep since I was 20 weeks. I am so uncomfortable all the time and being on maternity leave, so bored with nothing to do. Plus, I keep getting told by everyone that first babies are always late, sometimes upto 2 weeks late.. and I cannot bear another 5 weeks of this..

I’ve heard hot milk with cruhsed almonds is one way to encourage labour, does anyone know of any other methods..?

Thanks

Barfii and Bump..

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Baby will come when baby is ready!!

So even if you use tried-and-proven methods, they will not work if baby isnt ready yet.

Nipple stimulation and orgasm both boost the natural hormone (oxytocin) needed for labor. The synthetic version of oxytocin is Pitocin, an IV medication they use for induced labor.

Less aggressive and less-proven methods include walking and eating spicy foods. Walking is never a bad idea. Spicy foods I'd be wary of lol! You dont want to deal with spicy-puke AND labor at the same time!!

Best wishes, hang in there!

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

you think you'll GET decent night's sleep when baby arrives ???

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Out of my four kids, 3 were late....(one decided to surprise me and was born in 32nd week) I was always told to walk and climb stairs as much as i can. n btw this isn't really a desi way...as i was advised by my german doctor. And to tell you the truth, i really can't say it made any difference. No matter how much i walked, they always wanted to come late. oh so desi!!! :D

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

I drank this horrible mixture of milk, desi ghee(n we're talking tons like 2 tbsp) and a pinch of saffron from the 36th week cuz my mom was really persistant...I have no idea whether it helped ornot but I did gain a lot of weight...arghh.. my son did come one week early..n he's my first...also, have lots of pineapple n it's juice cuz apparently it helps to kick start labour...

TMI warning!
It may sound a bit odd but give it a try...sit down with your knees bent like u would on a desi wc ..n push down like u are constipated...

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

not always first babies r late. mine first was earlier 2nd was 10 days late.
last few days can be hard but man i don't wanna go labour pain n that dreadful delivery pushing thing again. so enjoy ur time.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

My MIL says that one should walk as much as she can during the whole thirst trimester, it also works. My friend is suggested to climb stairs.

I heard that having hot milk and dates also make the labour easy.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

drink some castor oil.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Boil sawayan in some water, strain that water and drink it for some days (everyday preferably).
I heard this from a woman who recently gave birth and claims this helped kickstart her labor.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Just found this, http://www.shoppingfortwo.com/Articles/Pregnancy/breakyourwatercookies.htm

if any of you tries it pls share what the result was. I’m wondering if this would work for us desis who are already so used to eating spicy foods…

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

my cousins and aunties all said the ame thing, hot milk, ghee, badam, and something else, il get back to you....and drink this one glass daily in last month, and twice a day in the last week....

its sounds disgusting....esp the ghee..ewwwwwwwwwww

but is meant for a hopefully easier labour.....not sure if its meant to bring baby sooner....hang in there....

im 6months..and so far its ok...however i have heard last 3 months are the worst...:

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

eat lots of almonds and dates.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

i know some people have tried all types of ways to kickstart their labours. castor oils, drinking pineapples, sex, lots of walking, eating spicy foods etc but nothing worked.

but i guess when baby is ready to come, he'll come.

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

Raspberry Leaf tea from Whole Foods in the US worked for me. If you are in any other Western country try any helath store. I asked my doctor prior to trying this and she said it was fine.

eastern, how many cups were you drinking, were you late...pls share details ...

I wasn't late just a few days before my due date. I was due on the 17th and I drank just one cup on the night of the 12th. At 4 am I was in labor and delivered a baby on the 14th.

If you keep taking milk, fruits and healthy diet then there would not be any problem during the last trimester. I, myself is about to finish my 6th month and not having much problem by the grace of Allah. InshAllah everything will be fine with you :)

Re: Bring labour on with Desi methods..?

The 3 S's:

Go for a stroll

Consume **spicy **food

Have sex.

Good luck! Hope to hear the good new soon. :)

I have tried all the desi totkas.... milk with ghee, garam nuts, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple.... nothing... baby is where it is....

I have also been walking.... I still haven't tried castor oil coz it scares me... but nothing....

The baby has dropped but no signs of it wanting to come out.... so I guess I am one of those rare women for whom nothing seems to work....ahh well ...
