*Yes, I understand that only 5% of Guppies will get the reference.
This thread is about all of the appallingly gauche things that brides, grooms and their guests do, before, during and after the bridal festivities; behavior so out of line with humility/decency/common sense that it’s not merely tacky: it’s “Paki”. Inherently Desi behavior/attitudes that seem commonplace amongst our lot, but would shock and appall any outside parties.
I humbly submit: “Pakistani Bride at Macy’s”. The name says it all. Rather than accept that the bridal look is decided months/weeks in advance, and thus plan accordingly, the following Desi bride chose to march herself and her bridal party over to Macy’s on her wedding day for a complementary MAC makeover. Now, I can’t say what the bride’s reasoning was: perhaps she decided it would be cheaper/simpler to just book a makeover at the MAC counter and purchase the required minimum $40 worth of merchandise, or perhaps her actual makeup artist had a last minute emergency/coronary and simply couldn’t make it.
Personally, I feel that the only time you should have your bridal makeup done at a counter in Macy’s is if your reception is being held at the Sbarros next door, so I can’t fathom why any bride would want to let others in on such a travesty, let alone have it recorded for posterity! The logic is just plain Paki!*
And before you bleeding hearts claim that some brides simply don’t have the money to afford a proper makeup artist, I humbly submit Exhibit B:

These folks ain’t exactly hurtin’ for money!
*And to any brides who have seen that video and are already getting ideas, I have only two words for you:You Tube.
**I **think by looking at the video and everything I guess her make up artist couldnt come on last minute.anything can happen with a person otherwise everything else seems to look organized which is shown in the video atleast!!!

I think it's one thing to be compelled (by dint of an eleventh hour-cancellation) to have your makeup done at the MAC counter at Macy's; it's another thing entirely to have the ordeal filmed for posterity. Call me crazy, but I think this was premeditated; otherwise the bride would be in a state of complete mortification.
The whole "complimentary bridal makeover" thing is just so... Desi.
I've seen a few of those quincinera girls do that in the mall but maybe they just wanted the attention. I think that has to be it. She probably felt really good because lots of women probably complimented her and wished her well as she walked through the mall. That's the only thing i can think of. I wouldn't be surprised if they went through the mall to a photography studio...jk i'm sure they didn't.
umm....well, I didnt watch through the whole video, but does anyone know what city this girl is in? What she did might be tacky, but going to a MAC counter doesnt necessarily mean you're triyng to save money...unless you're in a major US city, if you want good makeup, its either "Ruby's Beauty Parlor" where you'll look like a Lollywood actress from the 80s, or you go to a MAC counter and get decent bridal makeup.

Somewhere deep in the heart of Tackystan; possibly a suburb of Cheapsville.
What she did might be tacky,
What she did IS tacky; there's no “might” in it.

Well, you're certainly not trying to save face.

That kind of makeup would only look decent if you're a raccoon or a prostitute; find a better makeup counter.
Do MAC require u to buy a minimum $40 worth of merchandise??
Not sure what they charge now, but a few years ago I was told that if I wanted to have my makeup done at a certain time/date or particular occasion, I'd have to schedule an appointment and purchase $40 worth of cr@p to receive my “complimentary” makeover. Mind you, the $120 I had already spent that day would not be counted towards the future $40 makeover.
She should've gone to Chanel, over here they'll do it for free :-D
True, but even if they did have her shade in stock (which they likely didn't, as it's Chanel) they might have tried to make her look subtle or elegant and that's clearly not what she was going for.
My illness is no joke; I’m bedridden for much of the day and haven’t been able to leave the house in ages.
You’re being facetious; most of the bhabis on this board are wishing me a speedy recovery that I may never grace the GS boards with my depravity and sardonic humor again.
