Hiya - just wanted to find how many of us have moved over here from Pakistan and how we are adjusting…and what things we miss of Pak (besides family!!!) and what thing we like about UK.
IN my case - I moved here from Lahore - I miss PAK a lot especially the great food!!!
I love my new home UK as well - especially all the nice people I have met and the fact that UK has so many people form other countries as well (so a more vast cultural experience) - of course, up north we are lucky to have a big Pakistani Community!!!
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
TY Deeba - just been here a few months - however, I used to visit UK/Manchester a lot even before I got married :) - I generally like the UK (after all you can find everything over here as you would in Pakistan) :) Getting used to the rain and the unpredictable weather - in Lahore, in summer it is so hot....but at least you know what to wear etc....with UK, you just never know!!! - what about u? - from Pak originally?
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
Incoming in 2 months the following threads:
1. Hate my in laws.
2. Hate the UK and my in laws
3. Hate my hubby and how he always supports my in laws
4. My MIL is a biatch!
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
Well I heard the food in UK is terrible so thats understandable.
Although @CM you have such negativity towards paki women why is that?
how would you know how every wife will eventually hate their in-laws?
I'm sure husbands would hate their in-laws if they had to converse with them every week till they passed away...

The pattern shall weave as it does and we merely threads.
Because Pakistani women are unoriginal, stifled by their own insecurities and focus on the negative so much more than the positive. A tleast that is what I have learned on Life1. But I digress. I rather not derail this thread.
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
I don't think its just Pakistani housewives
I think its any wife who has to deal with evil MILs or in-laws.
I've watched several comedies about evil housewives though o.o!
forget about evil MILs.. housewives just suck your money out of your wallet once you come home ;.;
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
Kakee, I wouldn't just restrict it to women, most ppl if they were expected to make as many sacrifices in terms of personal freedoms, space etc. would struggle imo.. I would love to see how many guys would be fine living with inlaws (esp seeing as tho so many desi guys have a problem just moving out of their parents' home at all)..
Re: Brides / Grooms who have moved to UK From Pakistan after wedding
Trust me it gets awfully lonely at times. The hustle bustle of Lahore is something I badly miss. But then again on the retrospective the prospect of entertaning guests all the time..cooking lots of food (which is the norm in our huge family MA) is a little daunting too.
So am enjoying the time spent with husband but I also miss my folks and all the family get togethers back home !
