I have medium(wheatish) skin tone.
Can anyone help me out with pictures of bridals with similar skin tones and what looked good on them. Thanks!

Re: Bridals for darker complextions
Unfortunatley all brides, whatever their complexion always look white on their wedding day......they paint you in pakistan...my friend was very dark...on her wedding she looked like a ghost....albeit a pretty one..
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
I'm getting married here in the states..so I'm not going for the light look..thinking of a non-desi make-up artist.
But thanks for the reply!
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
if u want NON- Desi- try MAC- my friend went to MAC makeup artists- in the mall and she wore her shirt only and they matched it so well Masha'allah it looked very good-
I think i wanna do that also- cuz ever here in the states- they freekin POUND u with soo much makeup and say U cant laugh- u cant talk much- try not to stretch ur mouth too much while u eat- dont smile much- dont blink much- ALL BECAUSE ull get wrinkles in ur makeup- wat baqwaas!!
so American makeup would be good- they do an awesome job and actually blend ur makeup with the skin color- I have a wheatish tone also- so im scared of these aunties making me a white ghost and my arms looking darker- :(
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
Are you wondering about bridals or makeup?
I think that the colors that normally work for you should work for your bridal as well, no? For example, purple doesn't look right on me. So even though I found a gold and purple bridal I liked, I decided not to get it because I knew the purple wouldn't suit me, especially if it was incorporated into the makeup.
In general I think lighter colors work well with wheatish skin tones.
i was thinking a light beige for reception....however i would like to do red on baraath...I can't picture myself wearing a bright red...would like more of a brick/burnt red.
Anyone have any pictures of either?
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
for ur bridal, choose the colour that you get the most compliments on normally. dark or light-- both skin tones can pull off any colour, so long as u get the right shade.

I think both colors look great on darker complexions. I agree with the choice of red too :-)
You could possibly add in an extra color to the beige for the reception. Around the borders of the lehnga and dupatta, and on the neckline. I think this route you could go for possibly any color you'd like.
I personally think sea green looks great with beige/golden, but so do a lot of other colors.
I'll keep an eye out for pix and post any if I find them :-)
Hey! i have a friend who is quite dark and she wasnt too sure about colours too...her skin tone didnt suit red/maroon/shocking pink so she was quite worried.
so she asked me to help out and i designed her a gharara in beige and baby pink...the dupatta and shirt were baby pink and the gharara was beige...she had it made in pakistan and it looked gorgeous on her.
she wore a mint green and lilac lehnga on the walimah...also went well with her dark skin tone.
would love to see the pics!
^ sorry i cant post pics cos shes a hijabi and would KILL me if i posted them...i had to plead with her for ages to let me take a few snaps.
she had them made from aroosia in lahore...i think.
she also had a problem with her mayoon/mehndhi suit because she didnt want any yellow or orange but still wanted a traditional colour. for her mehndhi i designed her a peshwas in olive green with deep red and rust accents...it looked fantastic.
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
If you can't post pics of your friend, can you post of the actual clothing....???
Just don't show the head at all.....
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
im wheatish, if not darker, and i wore maroon (deep reddish) on the baraat and a seagreen/pink lengha on the valima... MAC makeus is great if ur getting it done from overseas...
I always get MAC to do mine. In pakistan, I HAAAATED my baraat makeup, but the valima makeup was awesome. It was done using MAC makeup... and it was just the bestest
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
I’d stick with jewel tones…with your skin tone, you can wear deep, vibrant colors without looking washed out.
I don’t like all of these outfits themselves, but I think the colors suit the respective brides:

Strangely enough, i'm also medium skin tone and bright red actually looked nice on me. it also depends on the kapra, colors look different on different kapras. you really have to try on diff colors and shades
^ sorry muzna, i asked her and she said no.
Re: Bridals for darker complextions
wow is that the groom with the glasses...he looks so young! the bride in the 3rd pic is very pretty...
Drape a couple of shades of reds.. and see which one looks nice.. a deep crimson suits dusky skintones better than brighter tones.
Other colors that suit wheatish complexions are:
Olive
Burgundy
Navy Blue
Emerald green
Burnt orange/rust
Beige
Teal
Saffron yellow
Watermelon pink
