Bridal & wedding shopping

Re: Bridal & wedding shopping

Guyz, if ur in Canada or U.S i suggest u get ur bridal lehnga's from here...becoz u get a nice work indian style lehnga which costs u much cheaper if u think abt it...coz the designers in pak are rediculous they r charging unbelievable prices, i emailed the famous nomi ansari n he replied saying tht his lehngas start from 3 lakh....now u can imagine 3 lakh which is $5000....so u can imagine....u can get a nice bridal here, the work is different i like the indian kaaam....plus the sarees n all...r really good....n if ur getting married in pak it looks so different than the regular.

Re: Bridal & wedding shopping

oh also potential toronto brides, nucreation on gerrard are supposed to be amazing and really well priced! you can go there and see their stuff and they’ll have it made for you in your size, kaam, and color choice.

Re: Bridal & wedding shopping

£1500? I am so not bothering with Pakistan! the UK is cheap in comparison! i'm like thinking i can get a gorgeous outfit for £500-£600 in Pak, but obviously not... it seems i'm still living in the dark ages!!!!

Re: Bridal & wedding shopping

it depends on where you go, how hard you bargain and how much work you want done on your outfit. i mean, it IS skilled labour, so you can't expect to pay nothing for your bridal gown, right?

also, its SO not necessary to go get your outfit from some hotshot designer. the beauty of pakistan is you can get whatever you want made for much less if you know the right people. i mean, HSY quoted me $6000 CAD for one of their ghararas. i could have had that for $1200 if i still wanted that design. whatever. its still couture and its still well-made and i don't really care if its not got a tag on it. i dont wear chanel and prada in my other clothes, why on earth would i pay so much for a wedding dress?? i'd rather go on a longer honeymoon, frankly :P

i'm paying $1200 CAD for mine and its got quite a bit of kaam on it. i think thats a reasonable price for a bridal lehenga. and i'm paying $500 for my mehendi gharara, which i'm sure everyone has seen pics of by now :p

600 pounds is 71,500 rupees- i think you should be able to get something very pretty made in that actually! mine is coming out to almost 63000 rupees and i KNOW im getting a lot of work done! you should definitely look into checking out pakistan, lj.

i find when people bring over things they've made, most of them end up thinking in $ and pricing in $ instead of rupees and i'm sorry but im not paying $2000 for an outfit than i know was made for less than that in rupees. profit is one thing but i ain't getting ripped off. i've talked to family in pakistan and what i'm hearing is, if you go yourself and get it made, its generally much more economical than if you buy it off someone else. they add in all these shipping/handling costs as well as the cost of "running around" and getting all this work done etc. well, damn, thats your bidness, ya know? run it better! haha

i think the reason im getting my stuff for not-so-much compared to my friends, is that the lady i'm seeing has her own workmen and her own workshop in lahore. and shes developed a close working relationship with her people so they understand each other and she doesn't need to run around so much finding someone to do it for her. i guess she keeps her overheads down and so it doesn't get passed on to her clients.
