i had my mangni jorra from this place called rim-jhim.. try that.. ive a few people in the family get clothes from there, they turn out pretty nice! also on tariq road there's this place called memsaab or smthn.. they also do really nice kaam.. but really! if ure goin to pak, u can just shop from anywhere!! there's sooooooooo much to choose from! n im sure all the markets are just as good!!
My valima outfit was made by Rhim-Jhim, and they did a really good job. It turned out beautiful. They also have some nice ready-made fancy shalwar kameez (heavy joras).
u can find really decent stuff on tariq road, and the best part is, they are ready made and they just have to be tailored. i only had a week before my wedding and i was able to buy both shadi and valima dresses in one day on tariq road, and jewelry churian shoes etc the next,
3-4 wks for that kind of shopping is enough time, you can even take your time
looking, but if you want something custom made, i dont think many places will be willing to do that in such a short time, most demand 3 mos at a minimum
also shan21 is right, dont try to look like a foreigner, although even as i write it i know how impossible that will be, they can spot us a mile away
but seriously if you want to keep the price down, go in w/ someone who lives in pakistan and let her do the bargaining, after the shopkeeper gives you the initial price, counter w/ something like 1/2 of that, it sounds way ridiculous but trust me it works, it will make things cheaper for you, keep a poker face on at all times, that helps too
best of luck w/ all your shopping!
I shopped from Rabi Center at Tariq road and they had some decent heavy joras i got. I think i was able to get 3 joras, 1 bridal lehenga, a sari and shoes etc on the same day along with some gold jewellery. You just have to know where to look.
My actual wedding clothes were designed by my MIL and her boutique that she goes to (the lady's name is Safia).
Most of my jahez clothes were designed by Barka (Shaheena is the woman's name) in Defense. These range in terms of heaviness, shalwar kamiz, tang pajama, gharara, etc.
I also have a suit from Perahan.
I also bought a heavy sharara from Tariq road -- but I'm not sure about the name of the boutique. These days you can get some really nice stuff from the boutiques.
And you can go see Mrs. Kazmi if you have the time :D
hey all these shops on tariq rd are wayy to expensive...i heard therez a market by the nam of "Gulf"...they usually take a month to make a bridal dress and they have the nicest stuff aviable there...its no ready made though...u choose from designs and mgazines....they can copy designer stuff exactly from the magazines...i got one deisgn made that was by karma from Gulf...and its almost the same thing...and only for 5000 rs. ....my cousin asked someone on tariq rd to make the same dress...n they were charging like 45000 rs...i was like wadda hell....thats prolly more than wat the designer wouldve charged....
anyways....if u getta chance....do go there...i mean my experience has been good..:)

Re: Where in Karachi should I go to buy wedding clothes>
at Noori's in zamzama, next to JJ's botique. This is the best place for shopping for a wedding. Every dress is unique, made to order, and they don't loot like other designers. Quality speaks for itself!
Is your wedding going to be in karachi or are you just going to do your shopping in karachi?

Re: Where in Karachi should I go to buy wedding clothes>
My aunt recently started her own business and she is doing quite well. She owns a beautiful boutique in the Forum Mall in Clifton, Karachi. Her name is Nudrat I think her boutique is called Designs by Nudrat, not too sure.
Her clothes are sure to blow you away, I'm not saying that just because she's my aunt, they truly are beautiful dresses. I will try and scan her brochure and post it on here. I can't post URL's because this forum has some rule about posting 25 posts before you can post URLs...weird. anyways if you really want, i could send you pictures of some of her dresses. my email address is [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected] hope you find the right dress though, but if it's worth anything everyone and their mother knows that the BEST shaadi jorahs are made in lahore...if you can you should DEFINITELY try and make a trip there.
