Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

Ladies - I am looking for some inspiration. I am hoping you can help me find some pictures of brides wearing Shalwar Kameez rather than lenghas or saris. I am having almost no luck finding pics on my own. It seems all the pictures I find of Shalwar Kameez outfits are too light to be bridal. Does no one make bridal quality shalwar kameez?

Hey! I have seen it before! It looks sooo elegant. There are two main types of bridal pant suits:

  1. anarkali dresses.........all white with lots of work will look beaaaaautiful.
  2. long capris and jacket-type shirt. and make it very heavy.

the most importantly, the dupatta should have a thick border!!

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

i wore a pishwaas and it looked beautiful! :D

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

This bride wore an ankarli, it looked beautiful

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

^^ oh thats pretty

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

oohh the red anarkali looks prettttty..!

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

Thanks for everyones comments. I am leaning away from the anarkali look. I am short and I find that look makes me look more dwarf-life. I have a vision in my head but can't seem to find any pic of bridal shalwar kameez to show my mom/tailors etc.

mbar - what is a pishwaas? Do you have pics of it.

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

pishwaas is basically an anarkali.

if you are short, i STRONGLY suggest you go for this type of look:
-long capris
-shrit is jacket style closes in front
-material is lace on sleeves
-shirt can be crepe/silk/with lace on top
-lots of work
-ALL white
-thick border dupatta

trust me something like that would look amazing!

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

Even the normal shalwar kameez with heavy work on the shirt and dupatta will look really cool...
My cousin had shalwar kameez on her valima and it looked stunning..

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

I want to do a patiala style shalwar - but can't figure out how the embroidery should look. For example most of the outfits I see there is a gap between where the shirt ends and the start of the kaam on the shalwar. To me that looks odd - but I don't know if it would look just as odd to have the kaam go all the way up the shalwar. thoughts?

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

maybe just do paincha's with kaam? there is so much fabric and drape in a patiala shalwar, you don't want to visually interrupt that with kaam. if you had to do something, i'd suggest small kamdani all over the shalwar, but thats it.

If you are short Patyala might not be a good option either.
Have you thought about Hydrebadi Jora? Its actually a chooridar pyjama with a Kurta like kameez & I believe a 7 yards dupatta. It looks really elegant if you know how to wear it & you have the right color combination.

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

i am short too, but it looked nice... and is a pishwaas a good idea, if u r short??? :S i have to search for pix...

Try out Silk Boutiques in Hayes - it's truely amazing and totally different from Southall/Wembley.

I 've ordered a really traditional bridal salwar kameez - its beautiful! You can even choose any embriodery and have it made into a beautiful yet really elegant salwar kameez which is traditonal yet also modern.

I found “bridal salwar kameez” I dont know if its something like this you are looking for but Im posting bec the designer have written that its a bridal salwar kameez. So have a look and hope it help.

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

i guess no matter how bhara wa shalwar kameez is it will never look like a bridal dress. Its just how we picture bridal dresses..all flowy and bouncy(?).

Re: Bridal Shalwar Kameez - is it even possible?

I would suggest that you go for a chooridar too instead of a shslawar. I ahve seen fully
"kaam walay" bridal shlawar kameezes but for some reason they never looked bridal!

My advice if you're short is DONT go with ghararas or patiala shalwar. In general, baggy clothes will make you look shorter. maybe you could do straight trousers? Something fitted like that or churidaar pajama will help you look taller, and with heels they look HOT.

this is what I would have in mind:

Its by Chinyere Couture which is a branch of Bareeze I believe. I think they’re located in Lahore though and i’ve heard they are quite expensive…but its gorgeous!
