^ well i dont get it...dont get mad yaar, its just my opinion.

if you wear a hijab its because you want to maintain your modesty. isn't it meant to help from distracting others from doing 'haram' things to you? if you are serious about your hijab, then you wouldn't have a mixed wedding! why would any hijab woman want to sit on a stage, dressed as a bride infront of so many men? i dont get it. have a divider in the hall or something.

the women wearing the hijab and all that heavy makeup looks like a joke! i just always find it so funny when i see women like that. if you are going to wear that much make-up then dont wear the hijab as it looks so silly.

**As salam-o-Alaykum

hey sogul many thanks !

Not getting mad, lol.

People just interpret the hijab in different ways; I doubt there'll ever be a consensus. Some people think: "Oh, the commandment was that we can only show our faces and our hands [and our feet]. I can work with that!" so they think it's okay to go all out with make up.

Personally, I think it's okay to wear a fancy hijab and fancy jilbaab on your wedding day, if it's a mixed gathering. I went to a wedding in the UK last summer, and they don't have huge halls there - the wedding was held in a restaurant. :( The bride there was in a faun-coloured fancy hijab, and her matching jilbaab had delicate crystal work done on it. They couldn't split the guests, it just wouldn't have worked with the space.

Also, in our family/close friends, the brides get done up all normally, and the guests are segregated, but when it's rukhsati time, the bride wears a hijab that matches her dress when she's leaving. I know it's not proper parda, but what can you do? It's better than not, at all. I've seen some wear their black burkhas over their wedding dress at rukhsati-time, too. :D :p
