I’ve seen it put on 7 unmarried people as ‘goodluck’ … 
It’s just a very old custom, more of a cultural/traditional thing. I don’t think class or elegance has anything to do with it. 
I have not seen anybody in Canada do it. Just the family in Karachi.

I dnt even like sehra on grooms, my cousin had it on his wedding it was made of rosses and so freaking heavy 
he cudnt even walk properly and when he took it off his face was all red bcoz of rosses color, luckily he was wearing red turban not white matched to his sherwani

Our grooms wear a sehra at the time of the nikah and the brides wear it at the time of rukhsati.
The odd number tradition is no longer done in our family for anything…not for the “saat suhaganain” that do the mehndi rasam, not for the sehra bandi, etc. As more and more of the family became educated in the ways of true Islam, these traditions were abolished.
Where the sehra is still used in my family, it is only because there is a personal preference for it…not for necessity or as a mandatory tradition.

speaking of all these rasms…a long time ago i went to this wedding…and i was a wee little girl. and as SOON as i entered the house, this aunty ambushed me and tied this hangy thingy from my wrist. it was like this stuffed thing that looked like a ball or smething. what was that?

haan... and also the quality of the pics... digital camera pics are crisper. hell, even non-digital camera pics are sharper quality.
