Mashallah Nice pics…
Re: Bridal Pics
Wow…someone that knows about this custom! I was starting to feel like a dinosaur.
The sehra is also compulsory in our family. Since the ones made of roses become so heavy, many dulhans choose to get one made from the white buds…what are they called…champa/chamaylee ki kaliyaan (Similar to the one worn by Abhishek recently, but much longer and heavier). And yes…they do go all the way down to your knees. I would love to see you in one of those Mehnaz!
Re: Bridal Pics
^^ has any 1 gt any pics of these?
Re: Bridal Pics
^ my mom also wore a flower sehra, and hers was mostly the white motia buds also, dont have any pics right now though sorry
Re: Bridal Pics
those motia buds are sooo gorgeous and smell so great... and they're so expensive in toronto! yeesh.
Re: Bridal Pics
that's right....motia....it's not champa or chameli.....
Re: Bridal Pics
Oh God, I don’t like that sehra thing on brides ![]()
Re: Bridal Pics
Really Femme Fatale so as i..........Especially on brides
I have heard that groom wears it on their shehra bandi ....as my cousin also did so...
Re: Bridal Pics
not heard of it or seen it... it'd probably get in the way when you are trying to kiss everyone good bye... plus my make up will be waterproof, so i'm not worried about looking like a panda!
Re: Bridal Pics
I think it's a Karachi thing .... or just that area of Karachi where me and Muzna are from. I have some pics of my khala's wedding. I'll see if they are o.k. with me posting it here.
Re: Bridal Pics
i think it looks nice, its v different than the usual tikka jhumar, her valima dress is v nice as well
Re: Bridal Pics
We have this custom in my family too. We put it on the groom too but I am just not sure at what time during the shaadi.
I know it is put on the bride during the rukhsati. I can’t believe there are people who haven’t heard of this rasm. i though most people did this:confused:
Mehnaz and Muzna—do you guys also put the sehra on 7,9, or 11 (any odd number of people) happily married people’s faces before putting the sehra on the bride’s face? ![]()
Re: Bridal Pics
In my family there is nothing like that - no sehra for the groom or the bride - the rukhsati is pretty normal as well with loads of crying and then the bride sent off in the car...we dont even make the grooms wear a pugree...they just dress up like shahrukh khan/ hrithik roshan in bole chudiyan - the kurta/ sherwani is not that frock type though...i kind of like the tradition in my family which is simple and classy no offense to anyone though
